Dear People of Hope,

Last Sunday in worship you were invited to build a home alter, using some or all of these things:
    candle
    cross
    bowl of water
bowl of sand, dirt or salt

box to collect money for financial giving
    box to collect prayers

This week, we continue to gather for worship on zoom.  If you would like to share any elements from your home alter, let me know.  This will be our "faith sharing" throughout Lent.  Do you have a cross that is meaningful to you, maybe from travel or a significant time in your past?  Do you have a way to write and share prayers you'd like to show?  Do you have dirt or sand gathered from somewhere significant to share?  Or do you just want to show us the corner you've arranged for prayer?  It need not be long or significant.  It will simply be good to see and hear from each other.

This Sunday, you may also want to bring food and/or drink to morning worship.  We'll remember that Jesus ate with his followers, and Jesus is with us as we eat and drink together.

Peace of Christ, Pastor Julie

Fundraiser for PG Day Center
Nando's donates 40% of orders!

Tuesday February 23, 4-8pm

TODAY, Nando's on Rt 1 in College Park will donate 40% of their dinner orders to CUCE (Congregations United for Compassion and Empowerment) and the PG Plaza Day Center ministry. Nando's specializes in a South African way of preparing chicken and it's terrific.  Carry out orders can request everything from no spice to lots of heat.

Donating 40% is a BIG DEAL! Consider encouraging neighbors to place orders for a certain time slot- then offering to pick up all the orders and bring them to your house for easier donating.

View the menu and place orders on Nando's website:
https://www.nandosperiperi.com/find/restaurants/college-park
Tell them you're a part of the fundraiser when. you order.
Continued support in grieving Jude's death
Thursday February 25, 4-5pm
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81987610918?pwd=WmtNclhmcmdGdzVwa0FlVUNvOEFZZz09

One of the additional losses of Jude's zoom memorial service, is that the community didn't get to stand around and share stories and memories informally before and after.  This week there is a time to gather as a community, share stories and memories of Jude and other griefs we all carry.  We will pray together, but mostly talk and remember.  Anyone is welcome to attend and to share any griefs that are heavy on your heart.
movies@hope presents Bonhoeffer
Friday March 5, 7:30pm
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86455123132

Join us when movies@hope commemorates the season of Lent with Bonhoeffer, a profile of the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, theologian, pastor, and war resister.  In the face of the unspeakable evil of the Nazi regime and the passivity of the official church, Bonhoeffer must make a horrific choice between his pacifism and participation in the plot to assassinate Hitler -- a decision that will cost him his life.  Former Hope pastor and Metro DC Synod bishop Dick Graham will introduce this stirring documentary from 2003, and will lead the discussion afterwards.
