Hi, all, and happy Tuesday!

I'm listening to--and making comment in--the Los Angeles City Council meeting while I write, so pardon any typos. My multitasking skills get worse as I get older.
🤣

Ya'll. We are SO POWERFUL when we use our voices.

Remember, alone we are single drops of water and can be easily brushed away.
💧

Together, united, we can carve stone. 👆

So let's do that.

Call Your Senators
(find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling for a couple of reasons today:

First, I support the confirmation of Xavier Becerra to run the Department of Health and Human Services, and Deb Haaland to run the Department of the Interior. Will the Senator vote yes on both? [If yes thank. If no urge them to reconsider.]

Second, I want the Senate to take up S1, the For the People Act, as soon as the House passes it. These voting protections are key to the maintenance of our democracy. [If Democrat add:] If we need to abolish the filibuster to get it passed, then I support that 100%, and hope the Senator will as well. Thanks.

Hi, I'm a constituent calling for a couple of reasons today:

First, Congress needs to pass HR 1, the For the People Act, immediately. [optional add:] The right to vote, and to have that vote protected and counted, is at the very core of democracy. We can't have corruption, dark money, and voter suppression blocking that fundamental right.

Second, I support HR 803, the "Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act."
[Optional add:] Scientists say that in order to truly respond to the climate and biodiversity crises and create a more sustainable future, we must protect 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030. This package of bills will conserve wildlife habitat and migration corridors in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, and California and expand recreational access for all and support Indigenous Tribes and local economies. We MUST do this. Thank you. [H/T Indivisible Ventura]
Extra Credit
Please post this on social and tag your Senators (go here if the graphic doesn't download).

After four years of pro-polluter policies, @RepDebHaaland will bring a new day to @Interior as she fights to ensure the voices of tribes & local communities are heard in conversations about our #PublicLands. The Senate must act quickly to approve her nomination! #ConfirmHaaland
Something else
Please send everything in blue to President Biden here (or Resistbot it to him.)

I am gravely concerned about AAPI hate crimes, which have surged 1900% since the COVID pandemic began. Please work quickly to expand civil rights protections for individuals experiencing discrimination, and also direct the US Attorney General, as soon as he is confirmed, to take action against AAPI hate crimes. You can also direct the US Civil rights commission to fund community outreach and enforce civil rights protections.

This is really, really important. Thanks.

RESISTBOT Text
(New to Resistbot? Go here)
[to all 3 reps] [H/T]

Hi, I'm writing as a constituent because right now we have a real opportunity to improve the lives and futures of millions of U.S. children and cut childhood poverty in half. We must not let this opportunity pass us by.

I urge you to vote in favor of the expansion of the Child Tax Credit, which is part of the new pandemic relief legislation.  Please also raise the EITC for workers without children, whose taxes now can push them deeper into poverty.

The Child Tax Credit would be increased from $2,000 to $3,000 for children 6 years of age through age 17; and increased to $3,600 for families with children younger than 6 -- and would reach millions more U.S. families. You can improve it further by ending the exclusion of children in immigrant families who lack Social Security numbers. The maximum EITC for childless workers would rise from about $530 to $1,500.

The groundbreaking achievement of cutting child poverty in half must not be undermined by cuts to other programs needed by people with low incomes.

At this urgent time of need, we need Congress to act swiftly. Thanks.
OK.
Talk tomorrow!
