Beste <<First Name>>,

The fact that just about every event is currently taking place online is making it easier for us to participate in both national and international meetings. Perhaps we have spoken to each other online recently, at a conference, workshop or masterclass, but, if not, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the Madaster Relationship Event on 23 March. Before that day, we will first introduce the Madaster platform in Germany. And hopefully soon thereafter, also in Norway and several other countries, because we very much like to share our knowledge and experiences with Circular Heroes around the world.

Roadmap 2021
As previously announced, major and much-needed extensions to the Madaster platform are also on the agenda this year. The matching and enrichment process will be further optimised, the CB’23 guidelines will be implemented, and there will be a functional expansion of the platform, based on customer needs. We are also taking important steps in the area of internationalisation. Starting with the kick-off of Madaster Germany next week! We also hope to roll out the Madaster platform in Norway, in the near future. A more detailed roadmap can be found on the updated Madaster website.

Madaster Germany
Early next month, the official kick-off of Madaster Germany will take place (also see 'Save the date' at the bottom of this newsletter). As Managing Director, Patrick Bergmann will be drawing attention to the importance of an online registry of materials for the German construction sector. According to Patrick, now is the perfect time for this to happen. He is therefore really looking forward to accelerating the circular economy with Madaster in Germany. It will also give him the opportunity to combine various aspects that have played a major role in his life. Curious? Read his blog post ‘Circular economy as a model for the future’.

Working with a material passport
The international pandemic is changing market conditions. Also in the construction industry. Investing in the development of sustainable products and services is more important than ever. Fortunately, many parties had already embarked on this path well before the pandemic. For example, BPD Building Fund Property Development set the target of supplying 1,000 new homes with a material passport within one year. What does this mean for the contractors involved and for the material and service providers who are expected to register all these materials and products in Madaster? We asked Patrick den Boer, BIM director at Trebbe, the construction company closely involved in most of BPD's sustainable projects. In his role, he manages all BIM agreements from A to Z and is also involved in developing models in collaboration with the subcontractors.

Microsoft 2020 Environmental Sustainability Report
Microsoft is focusing on the climate crisis and, in this context, has published an in-depth report about the company’s progress, their key milestones and lessons learned. An interesting report that not only shares successes but also describes the challenges. With useful information for others to catch up on circular efforts. We are proud that Madaster is mentioned as a circular tool with regard to the environment, in Microsoft’s 2020 Environmental Sustainability Report (page 51).
