Tarlon Gibson is the Director of Early Childhood & Youth Services at The Community Place of Greater Rochester. He oversees our Early Childhood, Youth Services, and Threshold Learning Center programs. You can see his full biography here. 

Get to know Tarlon Gibson!

1) Can you describe what programs you work in and what your role is?

Collectively, our early childhood and youth programs are related to the holistic development of learners. They range from educational, social, emotional, professional and a host of age appropriate supplemental supports -from toddlers to adults. 

2) How long have you been with CPGR? 

Twenty years as of February 16. 

3) What is an important lesson you have learned at CPGR?

The important lesson I learned at CPGR is the strength and impact of collaboration and partnership in and out of the agency and to value the input of all stakeholders. 

4) How has working at CPGR changed you?

Definitely matured me and provided me with opportunities to challenge my fears. CPGR has also given me great experience in areas of leadership, grant writing, and community networking.

5) How do you think you have changed CPGR?

I think I challenged CPGR to be more intentional and deliberate in addressing issues of equity. 

6) What inspires you?

The people I serve inspires me - their trust and faith in our service delivery is inspiring...the role I play in being that, creating that space for opportunity and hope. 

7) What is the best thing about your job?

One of the best aspects about my job is the autonomy and creativity allowed to build and grow programs. I love that sense of freedom to be trusted in that capacity.
