March Mission of the Month Safe Families for Children
St. Mark is proud to partner with Olive Crest to support their Safe Families initiative. Safe Families for Children is a movement fueled by compassion to keep children safe and families intact. Safe Families rely upon host families, and a network of support, to open their arms, their hearts, and their homes.
Located in 110 cities across 42 States, Safe Families for Children creates extended family-like supports for desperate families through a community of devoted volunteers who are motivated by faith to keep children safe and keep families intact. In many situations, parents or guardians may be incapable of providing a safe and caring environment for their children, putting them at risk of abuse and neglect. In the past, extended family or neighbors stepped in to help families in crisis by caring for their children for short periods of time. Today, however, many families are socially isolated, and their extended family is nonexistent, unavailable or unable to help.
Here are some ways you can pray about partnering with St. Mark and Safe Families:
Be a Host Family: Open your home to a child in need and your heart to struggling parents. Stays range from 1 week to 3 months
Be a Family Friend: Encourage and support host families and families in need by volunteering some of your time.
Donate Resources: Provide clothing, diapers, meals, or other items to assist host families in our congregation.
The St. Mark Homeschool Co-Op invites all St. Mark Lutheran Church & Preschool children to participate with us in this new and fun virtual event! From March 7 - April 3, kids will hear 16 pre-recorded stories read to them online by various church members and vote on their favorites to advance in our book bracket. The goal is to expose children and families to a variety of new Christian picture books geared toward ages 4-9. At the end of the tournament, participating households will receive the March Madness winning book as a prize! Please sign up to participate ASAP through Kristen Beyer at kbeyer86@gmail.com.
Children in grades Preschool-5th grade are invited to attend In-Person Sunday School classes every Sunday at 9:00 am. These classes are held outside, and the children will remain socially distant, while still giving them the opportunity to connect and learn about their Savior!
Simply Loved lessons are designed to help you listen to kids and get to know them. It incorporates minimal supplies for each unit but uses them in innovative ways to introduce and apply the day’s lesson. It also uses human relationships to communicate God’s love in a tangible way. Built-in conversation starters help families share their personal stories and their own friendship with Jesus.
