HERE'S THE JUICE FOR THIS WEEK, FRIENDS

It's a wonderfully exciting time for new arrivals at our little shoppe in Southbank. An epic arrival of wines from the Jura has just landed. It's a wide selection but not too deep, with allocations being relatively small, as is pretty common with wines from this wonderland.

Our mate Campbell Burton popped down last week to splash around some of his newest releases and they were so good we took pretty much everything we tasted! Three exceptional wines from Languedoc producer Les Petites Mises who work with Macabeu, Carignan, Syrah and Bourboulenc. Also we grabbed a small quantity of a really incredible skin contact wine from Alsace producer, Lambert Spielmann. The wine was described by Campbell as "pretty much a masterpiece". That's quite a glowing recommendation if you ask me, especially from someone with his experience.

Subscriptions are heading out again next week; so if you're thinking about signing up, this is definitely the best time to do so. It's a great value idea if you're looking to extend your palate beyond the usual wines you might grab from the bottlo. 

GIMME ONE REGION TO STAY HERE, AND I'LL TURN RIGHT BACK AROUND.

If you've been reading our newsletters for a while now, you've definitely heard us waxing lyrical about this region many times. Thats for a very good reason. To us, and many others, the wines of the Jura are some of the most strikingly unique and delicious drops we have tasted. This may be in part to the Jurassic limestone soils of the area, providing with wines with intensely sharp minerality, or it could be the fact the wines are just so damn fresh and light that you never want to stop drinking them!

It's safe to say the wines that have just landed are epic and the range is quite diverse. For the Vin Jaune lovers, we have the 2013 Frédéric Lambert Château Chalon; which is an incredibly deep and complex wine but still incredibly fresh. 

If sparkling wine is more your thing, check out the floral and textural 2018 Champ Divin 'Nature' Cremant du Jura, or if you prefer a Pét-Nat, you'll really love the 2019 Patrice Béguet I'm forever Blowing Bubbles, with it's menagerie of fruit salad flavours and delicate fizz.

Chardonnay drinkers, rejoice! For the 2018 Les Dolomies Les Boutonnièrs is truly special. Comte rind, dried pineapple and lemon citrus. It's slightly richer than last year but still extremely moreish and complex.

In the skinsy department, 2019 Hughes-Béguet Orange Was The Colour of her Dress is 100% Savagnin macerated on skins for 6 months. Another really complex wine that bounces between sweet, salty and umami.

If reds are your thing, the 2019 Hughes-Béguet Silk Blue is a fresh blend of Trousseau, Ploussard and Savagnin. Sous bois and wild berries; it is silky with a lovely textural and spicy finish.

There are heaps more wines too, but this is a decent starting point I think. Get into 'em!
