Eateries & Restaurants - participation opportunity in
Knysna Oyster Festival 2021

Dear all in our sector of the tourism industry

Please click on the links below to read more:
  1. Press release shared by the Knysna Oyster Festival (KOF) Executive Committee. As stated in this release the new dates for the festival will be 9 to 18 July 2021.
  2. Invitation to local businesses to be a part of the 2021 hybrid edition of the Knysna Oyster Festival.  That includes YOU……
The 2021 KOF will be a hybrid event:  actual events and virtual events – which will be screened online.  But, there is lots more to do here……  The aim is for a full programme of locally produced events and specials that appeal to ‘local’ visitors, the festival go-ers.

What is the festival message?
  • Stay in the greater Knysna area for (at least) the full 10 days of the Knysna Oyster Festival
  • Stay.   Work.   Play
Who are our visitors?
  • Visitors will be (mostly) South Africans
  • They are price conscious and price sensitive
  • People that are coming to participate in events which (due to the pandemic) will be niche (i.e. limited/controlled numbers).
  • People that are coming here because there is lots to do – per festival calendar - even though they are not participating in any events.
How can you/your business be involved ?
  • Offer an ‘eatery’ special – for an hour a day, for a whole day, or better yet, for the full duration of the festival.  This could be :
  • a meal special, a value add (e.g. a bowl of ice-cream with each main course ordered)
  • or even entertainment (e.g. live music) at your venue
  • This will be included and promoted within the main festival programme, but you would also need to do your own promotion thereof.
  • All participating businesses must ensure that the relevant COVID-19 safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
When do you have to commit by?
  • Closing date to be a part of the KOF calendar of events is Friday, 16 April 2021 – or if the calendar fills before then.  So don’t wait……
Where do your register to participate? Please be in touch with Elizabeth Vertue  – coordinator of this portfolio on behalf of the Knysna Oyster Festival - should you have queries or concerns.
