Hello from Madeira!
Here is your monthly update on what I’m creating and exploring.

  • What’s new? 😎

Let’s get straight to the big news of this month. I’m excited to finally share with you my new website 🎉

>> dariov.com

Have a look and let me know what you think of it, any feedback is appreciated.

If you want to help me out, share an article or some book notes with a friend you think might appreciate them. It helps me build traffic and rank on Google faster. 💙

As you can see from the website, I also launched my first ever digital product Wisdom, it’s a Notion database with all my notes from books, podcasts, courses and so on. It’s for the nerds of you who care about connecting the dots as much as I do!

  • What I'm working on 💡
After watching a podcast on Digital Minimalism with Cal Newport, I decided to read his book on the subject (notes here). In a nutshell, social media is deteriorating many aspects of our lives and the only way to use it in a healthy way is by having a strong and intentional philosophy around it.

This concept resonated a lot with me, so I decided to make a content on how I’m building my own philosophy to approach digital consumption. It will be out next week!

On a related note, my favourite talk of the month is the interview at Stanford University with Chamath Palihapitiya, CEO of Social Capital. They mainly discuss how to use money for change, but he also gets to share his brutally honest take on social media as a former Vice President for User Growth at Facebook. Insightful and extremely entertaining!
  • Mental health 🌞
In the past week I've been experiencing more anxiety and discomfort than usual. Nothing new, I've had these emotions intermittently for many years now. Most of the time, they stay quiet in the background and don't interfere with my life, but at times they come back strongly, shaking up my confidence.

So with the excuse of properly taking notes for the website, I read again The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and, as usual, it helped me a lot. In case you need it too, check my notes here.
  • Top picks 🎈
Here is some other cool stuff I enjoyed this month. (I know this is your favourite part of the newsletter 😜)

Possibly the coolest video on YouTube, Iguana vs Snake is a 2-minute movie that will make you feel all sorts of emotions. You now have a new hero. You’re welcome.

I liked the series Upload on Prime Video, from the same creator of The Office. It’s actually mostly a love story, but it's built upon the idea of uploading your mind in cyberspace. It’s fresh and a funny watch.

My fav tracks this month are Haunted by Sasha and Agua by Bomba Estereo.

Apparently Daft Punk are breaking up. Remember their iconic One more time? Here is how they made its memorable sample.

Until next month,
Dario
