Hosford is gearing up for our annual event Connect to 6th Grade: an incoming 6th grade parent night (current 5th grade families).

This year will look a little different. We will be using a virtual meeting through Google Meets, and we will also be having a separate event for each of our elementary feeder schools; Grout, Buckman, Abernathy and Woodstock (Creston).

Our incoming 6th grade Abernethy parent event, Connect to 6th Grade, will be held at online with Hosford Administration on:

March 17th at 7:00 PM for Abernethy Families

If you have a current 5th grade student who will be in 6th grade the fall of 2020, please come to our incoming parent event for some great information, to meet school leaders and counselors, and get an introduction to life in middle school. Please pass this information along to any of your friends and neighbors living in the Hosford attendance area.*

*Please also note that if you do not live in the Hosford attendance area and are not part of our Mandarin Immersion program, Hosford is at full enrollment and not accepting transfer applications.

PTA Board Meeting TONIGHT

There will be a PTA Board Meeting tonight, February 22, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. All community members are welcome to attend and participate; only board members may cast votes. Especially if you have never attended a PTA meeting before, you are encouraged to join us to share your thoughts and vote about how to prioritize PTA resources and action in our community. We are looking for opinions and input from diverse segments of our community, so please come and let us hear from you!

Successful Schools Survey 2021

The 2021 Successful Schools Family Survey is once again upon us. When you take the survey, you help us understand your experience as a parent or guardian. This important information will guide us as we determine the future of our schools. The survey launched February 8th, and 5th graders have begun taking it. It will be available for the next four weeks through March 19th.

Take the survey today! You can complete the survey from a computer, tablet, or smartphone. It should only take 15-20 minutes of your time. Select the school your child attends and answer the questions for that school. If you have children at more than one PPS school, please complete one survey for each school your children attend. If you need help taking the survey, please contact Jessica Blei.

All teachers and 5th grade students will also take the survey. Students will be given the opportunity to take the survey at school.

K-5 Transfer Cycle & Explore Your Options Event

From February 17-March 16, families can submit transfer requests to K-5 dual language immersion, focus option and alternative programs. ACCESS Academy applications for grades 1-8 are available from February 17-April 16. Applications are available at www.pps.net/schoolchoice.

Families are invited to a virtual K-5 Explore Your Options night on Thursday, February 18 from 6-8 pm. This event is happening in lieu of many school-based open houses that would typically happen during the transfer cycle. Learn more at www.pps.net/k-5options. Please share this in formation with any interested families.

K-5 Report Card

Dear K-5 Parents,

We are excited to share with you the new K-5 Report Card. The report card has been revised by a committee of teachers and parents with one of the main goals being to help families more easily understand how your students are doing as they progress through the elementary grades. Click here to see the new report in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese. A highlight of the new report card is that there is now only one marking system for grades (E/M/CM/N/NE) and the +,V,/,-- system is now only for characteristics of a successful learner.

Teachers will be using this new report card for Quarter 2 reporting. And you will receive the report card via mail in late February.
