Since we last spoke with him in 2013, art alumnus Matthew Failor has become a veteran sled dog racer with 53 dogs to his name. The Iditarod brought him a wife and now business partner. Far from his hometown of Mansfield, he's found a new place to call home in Alaska.

'Twinkle' satellite to scan for potentially habitable worlds
Are we alone in the universe? Ohio State astronomers are looking to a new satellite telescope, Twinkle, to find the answer. Twinkle, set to launch in late 2023, will look for biosignatures within the atmospheres of exoplanets, or planets outside our solar system.

In a new study co-authored by Daniel Strunk, professor of clinical psychology, 41% of unemployed or underemployed people undergoing cognitive behavioral therapy found a new job or went from part- to full-time work by the end of the 16-week treatment for depression.

Baker named deputy director of the Institute for Optical Science
Robert Baker, associate professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has agreed to serve as deputy director of the Institute of Optical Science. Baker has been a member of the institute since its inception in 2018 and is co-director of the NSF NeXUS facility.

Nahar organizes first US and Bangladesh physics conference
Sultana Nahar, astronomy research professor, helped organize the first U.S. and Bangladesh conference on physics held virtually from Feb. 5-7. She represented the U.S.-based collaborative Frontiers of Physics for advancing science and education in Bangladesh.

Yuan-Ming Lu wins OCPA Outstanding Young Researcher Award
Yuan-Ming Lu, associate professor of physics, received the 2020 OCPA Outstanding Young Researcher Award. Presented by the International Organization of Chinese Physicists and Astronomers (OCPA), the award is given to recognize the contributions of physicists or astronomers of Chinese ethnicity working outside Asia.
