Pastor David continues the series on "40 Days of Wisdom" as we meet for worship this week. We are beginning to see an interest in people returning to in-person worship. If you would like to join in, save your seat at this link:

Reserve your seat for in-person worship on February 28 at 9:30am here.

Preschool Going Nuts

We are still going nuts at Unity Preschool! You can order your Terri Lynn premium nuts, granola, and chocolate and each purpose supports the good work of our preschool program. Go to unity-preschool.terrilynn.com to see the selections available and place your order. Please allow 10 days for order processing and an additional 1-5 business days for shipping. Enjoy your products and thank you for supporting the Unity Preschool. (We will not be holding our Butter Braids fundraiser this year.)

The Big Announcement

There has been a lot of excitement this week following the announcement that Unity, in partnership with the PCUSA and the Presbytery of Western NC, will plant a new church in the Lincolnton community. Following the closing of First Presbyterian in Lincolnton last spring, many discussions have taken place about how we can continue to have a strong Presbyterian presence in Lincolnton. If you're curious about this endeavor, visit www.unitypres.org/lincolnton where you can find several resources on this new venture.

Mission News

East Lincoln Home Meals Program: Special thanks to the many home meals drivers from Unity. Your dedication helps provide those at home with nutritious meals daily. During 2020, there were 15,500 meals delivered to 808 different clients in the East Lincoln area. Drivers pick up meals either from Publix or Butcher Boys and deliver lunch to about eight individuals once a month. There is a driver calendar which makes it easy to trade dates if a conflict occurs on your scheduled day. If you would like to learn more about participating in this program please contact Bruce Rohr: 704-489-0574 or BAR8350@gmail.com. There are opportunities for drivers as well as individuals willing to call to remind drivers of their day.

Your New Church Account

Anything new takes some getting used to, and so it is with our new church management software, payment portal, and church app. The payment portal is really a separate program, and will have a separate sign-in from the church management/app side of things. Because of this, you may think you have created an account in one place and find it doesn't work in the other.

Our best advice is to either 1) create an account only on the church management side (which is the Elvanto link that Janeen sent you) or 2) if you already created a giving account, use that same login/password to create an account on the church management side. If you still need assistance, please contact Janeen at janeen@unitypres.org or Morris Sample at wsample@charter.net.

Giving Through January 2021

General Budget:
Income: $47,303
Expense: $56,119
---------------------
Capital Fund:
Income: $10,035
Expense: $60,401
Current loan balance: $837,033
Solar Loan balance: $56,795
-----------------------

Special Offerings:
Five Cents a Meal: $45
One Great Hour: $20
Operating Funds: Overall, the operating funds show a net loss in January as expected from past years.  Our income and expenses vary each month with the historical trend showing deficits many of the first 10 months with increased income in November and December. Continued use of scheduled recurring gifts can even out this trend and help with the church’s cash flow.

Building Fund:  The contributions received at the end of 2020 allowed us to make an additional principal payment on our loan of $50,000 in January in addition to the regular monthly principal and interest payment.  This principal reduction will save over $8,000 in interest for the remainder of the loan.  Additional principal payments will be made as funds allow.

New Giving System: We are continuing to switch people over from our previous electronic payment processor to the new system.  Both systems will be maintained until we get everyone switched over. If you need assistance, contact Morris Sample at wsample@charter.net.

Solar Panels: These costs are now included in the general fund since initial costs and installation is complete and is now part of our normal operations. We will continue to report on the cost and savings in the newsletter. The solar system continues to meet the initial generation projection and for the first full 6 months of operation, has saved $4,035 that would have been paid to the power company.

Ways to Give: You can give through our website at www.unitypres.org/giving, mail a check to Unity Presbyterian at 8210 Unity Church Rd., Denver, NC 28037; or text to give at 844-935-1509. It is also possible to transfer stock directly to Unity and to leave a bequest to Unity in your will.

Thank you for supporting Unity!
