Dear Friends,

This week's newsletter is packed with important information, including an announcement from Awake's Board of Directors, the event recording and blog summary of Awake's recent Courageous Conversation on trauma, and the topic and speakers for our next Courageous Conversation (it's one you won't want to miss). I'll let you get right to it!

Sara Larson
Executive Director, Awake Milwaukee

We Are Expanding Our Board of Directors!

Awake Milwaukee is seeking Catholics in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee who are passionate about the mission of Awake and prepared to help guide and support the growth of our organization. The Board of Directors is a small, hard-working team of committed individuals who bring their unique personal and professional experiences to serve the mission of Awake. Board meetings are held every other month, and directors serve a two year term.

While we are open to all candidates, we are particularly interested in individuals with a background in financial management, accounting, fund development, diversity and inclusion, or mental health, as well as those who have previous experience on nonprofit boards, especially with young, developing organizations.

Awake values diversity and seeks to build a board that includes Catholics from a variety of backgrounds so that we may better serve our diverse Church; we especially invite people of color to consider bringing their voice to this important role.

If you might be interested in this exciting opportunity for servant leadership, we would love to have a conversation and discern together if this role would be a good fit for you. Please contact Board President Elizabeth Zimmer at emshrine@hotmail.com with questions or to express your interest.

Please Join Us In Prayer

Thank you for your continued commitment to uniting with Awake through prayer!

Archbishop Listecki has begun replying to the emails individuals have sent asking for a suspension of the music of Catholic composer David Haas in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. In these messages, he states that he will be taking these concerns "under consideration in consultation with my advisors."

Will you please join us in praying for our Archdiocesan leaders as they make a decision on this matter? May God guide them to a compassionate, survivor-centered response.
