Keeping Everyone Connected and Having Fun
I'm pleased to report that PASA's February vacation week was fantastic!
Youth from across the city attended a mix of programs, including a Gamm Theatre Young Actor's Studio, a Beat the Streets fitness session, a daily rotation of crafts and quiz games, and a Cooking Class where families were provided with ingredients to follow along and make a vegetarian baked ziti to feed a family of 6.
Our staff and providers went above and beyond to keep youth engaged during school break, learning new skills and staying in touch with one another.
We are so grateful to our PASA providers for their ability to step up and go the extra mile during this demanding and exhausting year of virtual work.

We are now in the middle of our winter session with virtual programs going strong. Middle school youth are making and editing short films, creating jewelry, keeping fit with dance and sports performance training, learning about careers with animals, exploring nature and the environment, and discovering how pop culture is using Afro-futurism to create art, music, film and fashion.
High school youth are participating in a culinary academy, discussing solutions to problems at a model United Nations, tackling ecological issues in the community, developing leadership skills in the LGBTQIA+ community, cultivating their financial literacy, and learning about careers in fashion.

Virtual after school programs can't happen without kits of supplies being delivered to youth all across Providence. DASH BICYCLE's super green delivery service helps bring art supplies, culinary kits, and all kinds of boxes and bags of various shapes to our participants weekly.

Please take a moment to learn more about our 2021 ARTS EVENT featuring Ethan Hawke and Joe Wilson Jr. and a conversation about the essential role arts education plays in youth development. We welcome all of you to join us at this special virtual community discussion on March 30.
This continues to be a crushing year for so many in our community, and I worry every day about the future fallout from the traumatic isolation that our youth are experiencing. But I continue to take comfort knowing that our team is working as hard as they can to keep spirits high, keep youth curious, and keep one another supported.
Thank you to everyone on the PASA team for continuing to prioritize youth and their families and for helping to create safe and caring after school programs for so many.
