Just for fun -

IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SONG PLAY EVERY TIME YOU ENTERED A ROOM, WHAT SONG WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

Kayla- From Now On - Greatest Showman, it has a great message, fun to listen to, and Hugh Jackman has a great voice!!

Gianna- Sunday Best by Surfaces

Lauren- I’d want some creepy carnival type music to play so that I could sneak into rooms and spook people.

Sierra- Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas because it reminds me that there's always something at the end of the road.

Gaby-Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles. It always makes me smile.

Jay- The Muffin Song because it just seems like that's the song that would fit me.

Drew- Thunderstruck

Henry-I'd like the song King of the Road by Dean Martin to be played because the song bops and it's an extremely energizing song.

Josh E- Welcome to the Jungle. This song has an awesome rhythm and it is widely known.

Debbi-Pink Panther Theme or Symphony No. 9 in E Minor "From the New World"

Hermayone- The Office or Friends theme song

Jesse- Jesus loves me

Directed Learning Activity - WHY???

With this year's DLA experience fresh in our minds this week, let's do a quick recap of why we do it.

It's a real-life learning experience! You take charge of making decisions, planning, and accomplishing whatever you choose!

It's a chance to do something fun that appeals to you! And there is lots of room for creativity if that's your thing.

Your family can do it with you if they want to. Many families enjoy the chance to be involved in your learning process.

Doing it with friends is an option. For some people, anything is better if you can do it with people you enjoy hanging out with.

We can't wait to see the pictures of all the fun things you did. If this year didn't seem fun or even valuable to you, you need to do it differently next time. And remember, just like everything about education (and life!) you will get out of it what you put into it.

*** If you are a reader of the Jag Rag and do not know what Directed Learning Activity is, students are asked to choose from a variety of options to do some outside of the classroom learning  - for example, attending a play, participating in something active such as hiking or skiing, birding, exploring culture, etc. The assignment is explained and options provided at the beginning of the year, and due about now. Students are asked to submit pictures that are made into a slideshow so we can all see what everyone did! ***
Greeting messages accepted through March 15!
Listening to that still small inner voice ~ ~ ~

. . . In our Western culture, we're not accustomed to holding silence for very long. It's not natural always for some of us to be more contemplative. We've been conditioned to think that silence is scary, or in silence something must be wrong.
But the truth is, as Parker Palmer says, "The soul speaks its truth only under quiet, inviting, and trustworthy conditions. The soul is like a wild animal: tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient and yet exceedingly shy." He says, "If we want to see a wild animal, the last thing we should do is go crashing through the woods, shouting for the creature to come out. But if we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two at the base of a tree, the creature we're waiting for may well emerge." That's from his book, Let Your Life Speak.
