Community Updates
Spring is upon us and that means yard clean up duties and recreational fires return as well. Residents are reminded that these two items should not become one. Burning yard waste, including leaves, generates smoke that may be a nuisance to your neighbors. Recreational fires are just for that purpose and should only burn clean dry wood. Recreational fires should be no larger than three feet in diameter and be a minimum of 25 feet from a structure.
Bring your spring yard waste to the City’s compost collection site. Residents of Victoria can drop off compostable waste (e.g., grass clippings, leaves, plant trimmings, branches) at the collection site from sunrise to sunset (daylight hours) this weekend.
Give back to the community by volunteering. The City of Victoria's new Volunteer Program has opportunities for individuals and groups, at different age levels, from a few hours to years of service.
Begin dialing the full 10 digits (area code + telephone number) when making local calls. The FCC adopted ‘988’ as a new three-digit number to be used nationwide to reach the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Lifeline, which means that beginning Oct. 24, 2021, a user must dial 10-digits for all local calls and after this date, all local calls dialed with only 7-digits will not be completed.
Find a COVID-19 vaccine appointment in Carver County. Carver County Public Health, in partnership with Ridgeview, has opened vaccine clinics to any eligible resident. This means residents 16 years or older (Pfizer) or 18 years and older (Moderna and Johnson & Johnson) can register for the vaccination clinics at the Waconia Event Center.
Watch Kelli Hanson with Day Trippin' on Twin Cities Live visit Victoria. Kelli made a stop in Winchester & Rye, White Birch House, and Willa June Apparel + Home during this week's Day Trippin' spot.
