Songwriting Is A Superpower
"Some of the reflections people have had when we've been making songs have blown my mind. People come in like, 'I’ve not had an interesting life,' and then we’ll talk about it and they’ll say, 'Actually, you know, this was really special, this was really meaningful.' It works well with people who might not want any form of therapy. They’ll agree to write a song, and all of a sudden they’re talking about their feelings."
Swan Song Creative Director and Founder Ben Buddy Slack recently had the opportunity to speak to Red Bull, as part of The Red Bulletin. Ben shared about his connection to music from an early age, his initial career choice of being a detective, his current work with The Swan Song Project and how songwriting is a superpower.
"Songs can live forever. They stay inside you. Music is a form of magic, really."
Mother's Day
We appreciate that Mother's Day can be tough if you are missing your mum or someone who has been like a mum to you. If writing a song with us could be helpful you can find out more on our website.
Since we started our songwriting service, we have had the privilege of working with some wonderful mums. Click here to read Duncan and Heather Williamson's blog about their much missed mum Ann and her song 'The Warmth That Surrounds.'
Music and Memories On Tuesday 23rd March (time TBC) we are hosting a Music and Memories group in support of the National Day of Reflection organised by Marie Curie. The group will be a space for people to listen to special songs linked to bereavement. The songs may hold special memories, be a favourite of a loved one or have helped you through the grieving process.
If you would like to attend and/or request a song please email Ben@swansongproject.co.uk. Songs will be chosen on a first come first served basis.
Fundraising Update Will you support Swan Song this Spring? Your kindness will help us to continue our songwriting work with terminally ill and bereaved people. Our Fundraising Manager Gemma Cross would love to hear from you: gemmacross@swansongproject.co.uk.
