Dear Readers,

This month’s Flute Examiner is one of those self-help issues. If you’re a regular reader, you know that we seem to do this from time to time! Our feature interview this month is Keith’s conversation with Dr. Brittany Trotter, who impresses me with her energy, her creativity and her irrepressible spirit! Kelly has written about using movement to ease long hours spent on Zoom, and Chelsea Tanner has shared an article full of good ideas for overcoming toxic perfectionism. Our New York Women Composers collaboration features Stefania de Kenessy’s Sonata in D, and I have written an essay, more than an article, about a particular silver lining I’ve found over the past year of upheaval.

So, yes…it’s one of those self-help issues. If you find some inspiration from our offerings this month, we’ll consider it work well done!

—Jessica Dunnavant, Editor
