Update and news 26th February 2021

Dear <<First Name>>,

Following the Government’s announcement on Monday, Care home residents will be able to be visited indoors by a single, named individual from the 8th of March as part of the Prime Minister’s roadmap to ease lockdown restrictions.

Summary of Key points include:

  • The person nominated will remain unchanged while this step is in place.
  • Outdoor, pod and window visits will be able to continue in line with the published guidance which has been in place during lockdown, meaning there will be chances for residents to see more than just the one person they nominate.
  • Handholding is allowed but named visitors will be asked to avoid any closer contact.
  • Vaccination is not mandatory and will not be a condition of visiting.
  • Visiting will be suspended during local outbreaks.

We are very aware the impact the lockdown has had on everyone. Family plays a large role in the well-being of our residents in supporting them to maintain their physical and mental well-being.

Once the Designated Essential visitor has been identified we will be implementing additional measures. These include:

  • Agree and consent to having a weekly Lateral flow test at Culliford and have a negative test prior to visits.
  • Agree to comply with our Infection prevention and control measures.
  • Visits will be limited to a 30min slot initially once a week.

I will provide further information next week confirming when visits will commence and outlining what to expect from your first visit. Marnie Moors our Deputy Manager and I have will be contacting family members to discuss these new arrangements and we will continue to do so over the next few days. We want to also reassure you that we are committed to ensuring that we keep all our residents and staff as safe as possible.

CQC IPC Infection
On Tuesday 26th January 2021 we welcomed CQC to undertake a routine IPC inspection under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008as part of their regulatory role. The inspection was planned and focused on how well staff, relatives and visitors were protected by our infection, prevention, and control measures during the current pandemic.

The site visit and a separate Teams call focused on the following outcomes:

  1. Are all types of visitors prevented from catching and spreading infection?
  2. Are shielding and social distancing complied with?
  3. Are people admitted to the service safely?
  4. Does the service use PPE effectively to safeguard staff and people using the service?
  5. Is there adequate access and take up of testing for staff and people using the service?
  6. Does the layout of the premises, use of space and hygiene practice promote safety?
  7. Do staff training, practices and deployment show the service can prevent transmission of infection and/or manage an outbreak?
  8. Are IPC Policies up to date and implemented effectively to prevent and control infection?
  9. Feedback from our local public health bodies and Dorset council were also obtained.

We are pleased to announce that we received our final this week report following our recent inspection. CQC were assured that our service is safe, and people are protected by the infection prevention and control of infection. Please click on link to see report
