 Occupier Raises $5M Seed Round to Bring Commercial Real Estate Online
Occupier, a company that helps businesses navigate the complexities of managing a portfolio of real estate leases, and ensure compliance with new accounting standards, has finalized a funding round of $5M. The round is led by Alate Partners and MetaProp, with participation from Second Century Ventures, Thomson Reuters Ventures, and commercial real estate industry leaders across the U.S MetaProp Partner, Maureen Waters, will join Occupier as a Board Observer. Oishii Has Raised $50M in Financing to Expand Its Take on the Vertical Farming Business
Oishii, a four-year-old, Jersey City, N.J.-based indoor vertical strawberry farming startup, has raised $50 million in Series A funding led by SPARX’s Mirai fund (which includes investments from Toyota, Sumitomo, and the asset management firm SPARX). Sony Innovation Fund, PKSHA Technology, and Social Starts also joined the round. Read More.
JetClosing Closes $11M Investment Round, Names Tech Vet Anna Collins as CEO
Seattle digital home closing service JetClosing closed an $11 million Series B round. Funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates invested, as well as Pioneer Square Labs and Trilogy Equity. Total funding to date is $44 million. Read More.
Urban Farming Startup Infarm Raises Extra $100M to Expand
Indoor farming startup Infarm raised an additional $100 million to expand into more foods as the coronavirus pandemic increases interest in growing produce in urban areas. The Berlin-based company received extra financing from existing investors that’s on top of the $170 million raised in September. Read More.
On-Demand Logistics and Fulfillment Startup Flowspace Raises $31M
On-demand warehousing fulfillment startup Flowspace today announced that it raised $31 million in a Series B equity funding round. Los Angeles-based Flowspace says that the round, which was led by BuildGroup, will enable it to expand its network of fulfillment centers to build on pandemic-driven growth. Read More.

PadSplit works with landlords to turn vacant housing into income-producing coliving spaces by the room, similar to student or senior housing, that it markets online in Airbnb fashion. Read More.
Procore IPO is Back On
Procore, a nearly 18-year-old, Carpinteria, Ca.-based maker of cloud-based construction management software that has raised roughly $650 million from investors over the years, had registered plans to go public early last year, then delayed those plans owing to the pandemic’s impact on the economy. CoStar Drops Bid For CoreLogic Citing Market Volatility
CoStar Group withdrew its bid to buy CoreLogic, a real estate data firm that’s known for its home-price indexes. Because of rising interest rates that will affect the refi mortgage market, CoStar said CoreLogic’s value had declined, and it was done negotiating. Read More.
Blackstone, Starwood to Acquire Extended Stay for $6B
A 50/50 joint venture between funds managed by Blackstone Real Estate Partners and Starwood Capital Group have signed a definitive agreement to acquire Extended Stay American for $19.50 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $6 billion. Read More.
Insurance Startup Hippo to Go Public in $5B SPAC Merger
The six-year-old home-insurance technology upstart Hippo Enterprises Inc. is teaming with a special-purpose acquisition company to go public, the latest insure-tech business to tap equity markets and challenge traditional insurers head-on. A deal that values the firm at $5 billion, the companies said. Read More.
