We're excited to announce that Maxwell Memorial Library is partnering with Neighborhood Forest to provide free tree seedlings to children in our community. Trees are vital to the environment in so many ways--they absorb, use, and store carbon dioxide, which is one of the greenhouse gases contributing to global warming; they help reduce soil erosion; they provide food and habitats for wild creatures; and they are beautiful! To receive your free trees, children should ask their parents to register online at  https://www.neighborhoodforest.org/school-search/

Here are the full details:

Dear Parent,

We are celebrating Earth Day this spring by participating in the 12th Annual Neighborhood Forest free tree program, whose aim is to provide free trees to kids every Earth Day. Since 2010, Neighborhood Forest has reached over 60,000 families and planted over 30,000 (mostly urban and residential) trees through the hands of children and parents across North America.

We endorse this project and are excited to be participating in this wonderful program that teaches kids stewardship through the magic and wonder of planting and watching trees grow.

Please fill out the following online registration form by March 21st and receive a free tree (6-12 inches in size) during Earth Week (April 22-30). Trees will be delivered to us (Maxwell Library, 14 Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031) and we will arrange to get the trees in the hands of your children on or around Earth Day (April 22nd). Planting instructions and species information will be emailed a few days prior to the trees arriving.

Register to receive a free tree for Earth Day to plant with your child: https://www.neighborhoodforest.org/school-search/
In the dropdown menu on that page, scroll down until you reach Maxwell Memorial Library—Camillus, NY. Select us and hit “Submit.”

Thank you for your support and participation. For more information about this program, please visit www.neighborhoodforest.org or www.facebook.com/neighborhoodforest.

Thank you, and Happy Earth Day from all of us at Maxwell Library!

PS: We would love for you to email us pictures of you and your kids with your baby trees so we can share them on our website and Facebook page. Only send what you are comfortable sharing on these public spaces. You can email us at maxwell@maxwellmemoriallibrary.org.
And here are a couple of reminders about our basket drawing and our Winter Reading Challenge, as their deadlines are fast approaching!
Don't wait for summer reading--adults and kids can play our Winter Reading Challenge BINGO now! Everyone gets a prize for participating and is entered for a chance to win one of three Wegmans gift cards (adults) or one of three Target gift cards (kids).

Grab a Bingo card when you come for curbside pickup or use the links below to get to the cards and instructions and print them out at home. Then read books in the categories on the card, and mark the boxes. When you’ve completed a row, column, or diagonal, turn your card in at Maxwell.

One entry per person, please. Entries due by April 1.

Hibernate with a Good Book (Adults’ card)
Hibernate with a Good Book (Adults’ instructions)

To print the Bingo cards out within the Chrome browser, you may have to adjust the print size.

In the Print dialogue, click on More settings to expand the section. Under Scale, choose either Fit to paper or Fit to printable area.

You should then be able to hit Print and have the card print out on one page.
