Dear Friends

These last few months have been a challenge for all of us. Fortunately, now that 2021 is fully underway, there is much good news on the horizon. If you have not already managed to be vaccinated, I urge you to learn the process in your location and to get yourself and your family vaccinated at the earliest opportunity. Vaccines are safe and they work. The photograph below is yours truly, receiving my 2nd shot in early January.

I'm excited to announce that 2021 will see the launch of a new focus by me on webinars and livestreamed events. We've been working on this since the beginning of the year. I'll be scheduling multiple events over the course of the year on topics ranging from your personal health to performance enhancement, Cognitive Dominance and more. We'll be using Zoom and livestreams to make it easier than ever for you to participate.

The next scheduled public event is called "Limitless" and will be livestreamed in April as the first of a series of events hosted by Princeton Brain, Spine & Sports Medicine. Watch your email for your personal invitation to attend.

If you have visited my website you know that there is a Patient Library devoted to providing accurate information about some of the more specialized conditions that I treat. I realize that many of my patients know me as a result of seeking out care for Trigeminal Neuralgia. Indeed, patients have found me from Europe, Hawaii, and other far-flung places. I was fortunate to train with the legendary Dr. Peter Jannetta who developed the modern treatment of Microvascular Decompression, and am grateful to be able to treat TN patients.

Yet it's becoming more and more apparent to me that Chiari Malformation continues to be poorly understood and often misdiagnosed. I'm thankful to have received advanced training and experience with the treatment of Chiari, and I find I'm seeing more and more Chiari patients from around the country.

As a result, I decided to feature this article about Chiari Malformation on my Facebook and Twitter accounts in recognition of Rare Disease Day on February 28th. I expected the article to be popular, but I was surprised by extreme level of interest. If the symptoms seem familiar, or if you know someone with Chiari, I can't emphasize enough how important it is that the patient is evaluated by a neurosurgeon with experience in the treatment of Chiari.

If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram you already know that the Audible version of my book Cognitive Dominance: A Brain Surgeon’s Quest to Out-Think Fear has been released. I did the reading myself; not a professional book reader. It was important to me to have a personal relationship with the listeners, and that is why I chose to do the reading. I hope it feels a little bit like having a conversation with me.

Warm Regards
Mark
