Meeting for Farmers' Market Operators and Partners: April 1st at 1:00pm
As the spring/summer farmers' market season approaches, the Departments of Public Health and Parks and Recreation are hosting a virtual call to review Farmer’s Market guidelines and registration process, share tips on operating a market, and share experiences from other operators on their market models. We hope you will join us! Register in advance for this meeting. 

The Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance is Hiring a Co-op Developer 
PACA invites folks with both group/meeting facilitation as well as business finance/development skills to apply! The person in this role would serve as PACA's project officer for the Seed Commons, and be part of a growing community of solidarity economy practitioners building new financial infrastructure that centers economic justice. This position is full-time (32 hours per week), exempt, and pays a salary of $48,000/year. PACA offers all full-time employees a $250/month health benefit, paid holidays, and generous PTO. PHS Garden Tenders: How to Start and Sustain a Community Garden
VIRTUAL CLASSES Wednesday evenings 5:30-7 pm, March 31 to April 28, 2021
Are you involved in a new community garden or looking to start one? Join Sally McCabe and others to learn what it takes to get a community garden started, and how to sustain it. THIS IS NOT A GARDENING CLASS; we will cover: recruiting and keeping volunteers; assessing and finding resources in your neighborhood; garden management; land ownership/security; and forming partnerships.  Groups who complete the course and meet additional requirements are invited to apply for project support. New "Simplified" Grant from William Penn Foundation for Gardens Producing and Distributing Food
WPF has launched a new round of funding available to address COVID impacts on key pandemic-related needs, specifically food. Learn more here. The food work explicitly includes funding for community gardens producing and distributing food. Grants will be from $25k-$250k. Email Anna with questions about eligibility.

Announcing an Urban Agriculture Webinar Series
In partnership with the U.S. Economic Development Administration - Philadelphia, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regions II and III, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission is hosting a series of webinars aimed at charting paths within the emerging urban agriculture industry. The Intersection of Food and Local Economic Development series strives to implement goals and strategies outlined in the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, Growing Greater Philadelphia. The series is hosted by DVRPC’s Regional Community and Economic Development Forum. Four webinars will be held on four consecutive Wednesdays from March 17 to April 7, 2021. USDA Seeks Comments on Coronavirus Response Grants, Will Host Listening Session
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) seeks comments regarding the development, coordination and implementation of grant programs to support food processing, distribution, seafood processing, farmers markets, and producers and other businesses identified in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. They are actively seeking feedback from groups and individuals to share their views on how USDA can best target these resources to help mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the agricultural industry and communities in need of nutrition assistance. They encourage comments from smaller businesses, new and beginning farmers and ranchers, socially disadvantaged producers, veteran producers, and underserved communities, and/or organizations representing these entities.
