JOIN US DURING THIS LENTEN TIME

The Lenten Season at Spirit of Joy is a time for us all to reflect. Our theme during Lent is "God's Love Is Shown".  This Wednesday and each Wednesday through Palm Sunday, we will have devotional worship recorded and available starting at 6pm. As these have always been soup suppers, plan to make soup that night and join us with the recording.  On Good Friday, our worship will again be recorded and available at 8am.  The Service is a Service of Shadows and the Seven Last Words.  It will include special music, readings, and message.  We pray that you will join us in this journey to the cross. Daily Devotions during the Lenten Season are available with Pastor Dan, Monday through Friday, 8am.  Join us each morning as we look to Holy Scripture as our guiding light.

For outreach ministry at Spirit of Joy we will be joining Project Mercy on Saturday, April 24th, for another house build for a family in Mexico.  We will build the home in pieces in Chula Vista (includes the walls, stairs, and painting). Please let us know of your interest to help in this build. You can email admin@sojchurch.com or call (760)788-7456 and let us know of your intentions.  It is a tremendous experience, and we are in collaboration with Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Poway on this project.
Looking ahead to Easter Sunday, we will plan in-person worship on the land.  Sunrise Easter Service will be held at 6:30am with the Easter Celebration Service to be held at 9am. Our Service will also be live streamed for those unable to be with us in person.  Plan to invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join us for this Day of Resurrection!

     May God Bless us,

     Pastor Dan

God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Upcoming Special events:
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
~John 11:25-26
Building Vote - Ballot Results

The congregation of Spirit of Joy has voted not to pursue building on the property currently owned.  This means that the church council will be moving forward on the sale of the property.  For Spirit of Joy to realize funds from the sale we will all need to continue our giving to cover the monthly mortgage payment.  The property has been appraised at $3.8 million with an outstanding mortgage balance of $1.7 million.  We pray as we move forward that God will bless us in our efforts to share the good news and reimagine our vision and grow the church.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
~John 3:16
We are so thankful that we are able to gather in the back room of our church facility for meetings, Prayers and Squares, and Bible Studies!  Each group will be able to have a maximum of 8 persons at this time.  Everyone will receive a temperature check and be asked to wear a mask.  Each group meeting will be asked to use the cleaning agents available in the back room for cleaning after each gathering.  We look forward to having our gatherings, and ask that everyone follow the safety guidelines that have been in place at Spirit of Joy since we began our worship together on the church building site.
Safety Procedure for Worship
We encourage your arrival between 8-8:45am for set up.  Everyone is encouraged to wear masks on entry and departure on the church property.  Bring your own chairs, pop-ups, umbrellas, and bottled water.  To insure your safety, we will have a table with prepackaged communion (1st and 3rd Sunday each month), bulletins (also a digital bulletin is available on your electronic devices), and temperature check.  Please practice social distancing of at least 6ft of separation per family unit.  Trash cans are available to dispose of all trash upon leaving.  If for any reason you are not feeling well, at higher risk, or uncomfortable with attending, we invite you to enjoy the service live-streamed.  If you prefer staying in your car, there will be a designated area for you to do so.
