Share words of wisdom with our team

Every morning at 8am, Apprentices and training staff gather for our morning ritual. After outlining the day and sharing weekly goal progress, we close with a quote or reading that inspires.

We miss not having guests present. To keep us connected to our community, we're asking you to send in your favorite inspirational, spiritual, centering prayer or quote. Please email your contribution to
program@farminghope.org. Better yet: If you would like to mail a favorite book of poems or quotes, please send to:

Farming Hope's Training Garden

A note from Board Member Michael Fu:

I never know what to expect when I arrive at the Farming Hope garden on Saturday mornings. Sometimes I’m greeted by troves of succulents, junipers, ginger, and lilies ready to be replanted and donated. Sometimes I find new planter boxes ready to be filled with new batches of kale and chard seedlings. Every time I find myself slightly (and only slightly) more confident that I know what brassica looks like.

These mornings have become a joyful ritual. A consistent yet always spontaneous experience that has kindled a connection to the earth and rekindled my connection to San Francisco. In a time where distancing and video meetings are the norm, it means the world to have a space that nourishes, brings old and new friends together (even pups!), and is always giving. The garden is a true community hub. Thank you to Garden Director Jeremiah (himself a Farming Hope grad) for creating and caring for such a special place!
If you'd like to volunteer to help tear down and rebuild our garden fence, we need several experienced volunteers on Saturday, May 15 from 10am-1pm. Sign up by emailing team@farminghope.org.

Our Big Ask

The best way you can support Farming Hope and our Apprentices right now
As the world reopens and Farming Hope keeps growing in leaps and bounds, we want to both keep you updated and narrow our requests to One Big Ask each month. The one thing that will have the greatest impact on improving outcomes for our organization, Apprentices, and our dinner guests. The one thing we need most from you.

Today, we humbly ask for your introduction to a new potential funder to support our Community Meals program. We have more requests than we can meet for healthy, filling meal boxes at no cost to food insecure neighbors. We need help from our network of supporters to find funders who would love our triple impact of job training, community meals, and food recovery.

Covid-19 may feel like its winding down, but the urgent need for meals now is not. We need your help today feeding our neighbors, like the 100 weekly meal boxes we deliver to Mission Food Hub, pictured below.

Can you help us fund meals now? Who can you connect us to, who would love our mission? Respond to this email (
team@farminghope.org) with your initial thoughts and questions, or to set up a call to talk through our projects and fundraising in more detail.

THANK YOU for feeding it forward,
Jamie Stark
