Back to Basics

Virtual Wine Tasting

Friday, March 19th, 7pm via Facebook Live

This week we get back to some basics. Dave has found us some classic wines - a California Sauv Blanc, a Bordeaux, and a Chianti, that all punch above their price point. These are straight forward, classic wine styles here - no whacky blends, no weird marketing - just some good, interesting, everyday wines at an amazing price for their 90+ quality. In the live stream we will cover some basics about these classic wines, how to taste, their history, and how they can serve as a foundation for you wine exploration.

Mark your calendars for our next Winery Spotlight on March 26 featuring Daou Vineyards and our virtual guest, winemaker Daniel Daou. Details and tasting kits are online now! Reserve your kit

Here are the wines for this week's Back to Basics tasting:

Dry Creek Vineyard Fume Blanc Sonoma Famiglia Castellani Chianti Classico Riserva Chateau Bourbon La Chapelle (2016)

If you haven't tried one of our virtual tastings, here is how it works. We live stream the event on our Facebook Live page  Friday at 7pm. You don't have to buy the wines to join, anyone can watch for free - but it is more fun to buy the tasting kit and taste along. If you would like to check one out, watch one of the replays of a past event.

We are offering this tasting pack for a special deal - order online and you can pickup, have it delivered, or we will ship it to you!

On Friday, join us on our Facebook page at 7PM and we will have a chat. If you miss it, you can watch the replay!

Cheese Tasting Kit

Try these three cheeses to pair with your Back to Basics kit on March 19th. Three ~1/4lb pieces of some classic cheeses. The classic wine styles in this week's kit will appreciate the rich, creamy, nuttiness of these cheese, so it will be a great pairing.

This week the cheeses are:

Champignon Cambozola Black Label

Brie-style pasteurized cow's milk cheese with the barest hint of blue veining - what's not to love? The gray mold on the rind brings another layer of nuance to the flavor profile. A longer ripening time also enhances the taste and texture. A great introduction to blue cheese for those who might be intimidated by some of the more intense specimens on offer.

Manchego - 8 Month Aged

Manchego Cheese is produced in the La Mancha region of Spain, home of Don Quixote, and is a very popular Spanish cheese. Manchego is made with raw or pasteurized sheep's milk. Our 8 months old Manchego is made with pasteurized sheep's milk.

Beemster Aged Gouda

Aged 18 months, cow’s milk semi hard cheese.  Beemster Classic is regarded in the Netherlands as the signature Dutch cheese. Its complex taste is developed through natural aging for over 18 months in historic cheese warehouses.
