Michel Niellon 2019
With the recent passing of Michel Niellon this fine blue-chip domaine is now in the extremely capable hands of his son-in-law, Michel Coutoux. The 2019s promise to be a fitting tribute to the old man and an indication of how Coutoux is taking this important domaine to yet greater heights.
The Chevalier is a very rare wine. The 1er Crus exemplary and the village wine a sure go-to white Burgundy with true Chassagne style.

Chevalier Montrachet $575 - 6 bottles
WA 95+ The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of ripe yellow orchard fruit, clear honey, white flowers, toasted almonds and nutmeg. Full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's lively and concentrated, with a deep, enveloping core, racy acids and a long, precise finish. - William Kelley
Chassagne Montrachet Chenevottes $89 - 24 bottles
Not yet reviewed, but usually thought of in the top tier of Niellon's 1er Crus. Production is small.
Chassagne Montrachet Clos St Jean $89 - 48 bottles
WA 93 The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean is showing very well, opening in the glass with scents of crisp yellow orchard fruit, white flowers, marzipan and fresh peach. Medium-bodied, bright and tensile, its satiny attack segues into a deep, lively core, concluding with a chalky finish. - William Kelley
Chassagne Montrachet Clos de la Maltroie $89 - 48 bottles
WA 90 Notes of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, toasted nuts and pastry cream preface the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Maltroie, a medium to full-bodied, bright and satiny wine with fine depth at the core, tangy acids and good grip on the delicately oak-inflected finish. - William Kelley
Chassagne Montrachet $60 - 120 bottles
WA 89 The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc exhibits notes of pear, mandarin orange, buttered toast and beeswax, followed by a medium-bodied, lively palate that displays good concentration and cut. Impressively long and saline, this has turned out very nicely. - William Kelley

Wines are released and in transit now. Ordinarily, we would expect to see them in 60-90 days but the chaos in global logistics means we are sure to see some delay, though we do not expect it to be later than July.
