We're just past half-way through the first 100 days of the Biden-Harris administration. As Biden signs the American Rescue Plan many would remind us that the victory is not the election, it's the legislation. Now that we have defeated Trump, our top priority is democracy reform and here's the plan: pass HR1:For the People Act, pass HR4: John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, pass HR51:DC Statehood, and end the filibuster as soon as possible in order to do so.
So far, HR1 has passed the House, but we expect it to be blocked in the Senate. That's why changing Feinstein's tacit, if not full-throated, support for the filibuster is our highest priority.
Our six week Fixing Our Democracy series delving into the new Indivisible Guide has concluded but there is still plenty of fixing of our democracy left to do and the momentum created by the 70 or so volunteers who have participated in these Sunday sessions must continue. So, we are extending the Fixing Our Democracy Action Hour through the rest of the first 100 days of the Biden administration, the make or break period for this precious Democratic trifecta we worked so hard to put in power. Fixing Our Democracy Action Hour will continue on Sundays but will move to a new (and more convenient) time - 5pm, starting today.
Each Sunday through the end of April we will gather again, conduct a brief check-in to share with everyone our agenda for democracy reform andthentake action to demonstrate our collective impact.
