Los Angeles County Road to Recovery & Vaccine Eligibility Expansion

County has qualified for the red tier. The attached graphic shows what sectors will be allowed to reopen as of Monday. Click the following link for more information: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/

Vaccination Eligibility Expansion

vaccine eligibility expansion

Today, March 15th, people aged 16-64 who have underlying health conditions or disabilities are now eligible to receive vaccines, as their conditions put them at the highest risk of becoming very sick from COVID-19.

Persons who are newly eligible and qualify for a COVID-19 vaccine due to a medical condition should note that during registration for a vaccine appointment, they will be asked to state that they have a high-risk medical condition or disability.

To protect confidentially, they will not be asked to disclose the specific condition.

People getting vaccinated must provide documentation at all appointments with either a letter from a healthcare provider, a personal physician or an agency providing services or, if not available, the eligible person or their caretaker will be asked to sign an attestation.

All eligible persons will also need to provide identification (government ID not required) and proof that they live within LA County at their appointment.

For information about vaccine appointments in L.A. County and when your turn is coming up, to sign up for a vaccination newsletter, and much more, visit: VaccinateLACounty.com (English) and VacunateLosAngeles.com (Spanish). Vaccinations are always free and open to eligible residents and workers regardless of immigration status.

COVID-19 Recovery Loan Program

ROUND 4 COMING SOON

From local restaurants and retail storefronts to neighborhood salons and coffee shops, over the last year, we have seen the pandemic take an economic and emotional toll on far too many small businesses who are now forced to close their doors. Across the country, we know minority entrepreneurs and small businesses face the greatest challenges, as long-standing issues like inequitable access to access to capital have only been amplified by the pandemic. Los Angeles has suffered one of the highest small business closure rates across the country, and we wanted to do more to help.

With a generous donation from FOUND/LA, an initiative of Wurwand Foundation, and outreach support from Small Business Majority, we are launching the FOUND/LA Small Business Recovery Fund grant program to protect small businesses across Los Angeles County that make our neighborhoods feel like home.

New Opportunities to Convert Biomass “Waste” to Renewable Methane
and Green Hydrogen Webinar

Although most renewable gases are currently produced through anaerobic digestion, several innovative developers are working to deploy gasification and pyrolysis pathways to commercially viable energy production. These technologies allow for the conversion of dense, low-moisture organic material into valuable renewable gas and biochar, creating new opportunities to manage forests, agricultural waste. and other hard-to-handle organic feedstocks.

Attend this 75-minute Renewable Gas 360 webinar to hear industry leaders discuss:

  • How gasification and pyrolysis technologies work and why they are important tools to advance climate protection, air quality improvement, and clean energy goals
  • How these technologies can be used to promote sustainable management of woodlands, farming, and municipal solid waste
  • The status of groundbreaking projects, and how state and local policies can help accelerate the deployment of these important renewable energy technologies

You see a need in the community and want to address it, but it’s going to take both funding and a group of people committed to the cause to make it happen. Have you considered crowdfunding? One of its unsung values is that crowdfunding is not only about raising capital, but it also creates a lot of non-financial value, too, like community buy-in and opportunities to attract partners and collaborators. Curious how that works? Read how Latino filmmaker, Gerry Maravilla, used crowdfunding to make his film “Cross.”

On-Site COVID Testing for Business

Any business with 3 or more employees is welcome. Their requirement states they need to get employees tested at no cost, on company time. Sending employees to testing sites adds payroll costs, the risk of accidents for traveling on Company time, and no control of when or if the test results come in. Failure to comply could open up the employer to fines from the State and Lawsuits from employees. On-site testing can help mitigate much of that risk.

Life Pacific University
Life Pacific University Earns High Ranking Among National Collage and Universities

San Dimas, CALIF. – Life Pacific University was recently recognized in two national rankings, the 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges and Learn.org’s Best Online Colleges in California.

Life Pacific University ranked #9 in Top Performers on Social Mobility among regional colleges in the West by U.S. News & World Report. Social mobility is an indicator that measures how well schools graduated students who received Pell Grants. Life Pacific University is proud to be awarded this ranking as the university works to change the course of incoming students’ socio-economic standing and helps low income students graduate and enter higher income brackets.

President Angie Richey states, “LPU’s mission is the transformational development of students into leaders prepared to serve God in the church, the workplace, and the world. This recognition confirms the transformation that each student experiences at LPU to grow and thrive as leaders. I am thrilled that LPU has earned this ranking and even more thrilled to see our students making a difference in the lives of their families and communities.”

In addition, Learn.org ranked LPU #17 among the Best Online Colleges in California. This ranking is based on factors such as flexibility, cost, prerequisites, and program length. With its growth in online AA, Degree Completion, and master’s level programs, LPU is a recognized leader among private, Christian higher education institutions for the strength of its remote learning.

Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Daniel Ruarte states, “It is due to a committed team of faculty, staff, and university partners who serve God at LPU by providing top quality education and services, that we could accomplish such rankings. I am so proud of the LPU team for their commitment to impact and transform our students’ lives. My hope is that we see continual improvement and I would love to see LPU rise to the top in future years.”

"It is exciting to see LPU recognized for these rankins. LPU is small, but mighty."

An alumnus of the university, Director of Enrollment Management Matthew Tapp adds, “As someone whose role means I’m always sharing about LPU with other people, it is exciting to see LPU recognized for these rankings. LPU is small, but mighty. We have been doing incredible work for many years – transforming students into leaders who serve God all over the world! Being recognized for this work is validating and I hope it gives future students, current students, and alumni confidence and pride in their university!”

California Pest Management sets up
Disinfection services as California SaniClean

Having performed 100s of disinfection of infections from rodents and birds, it only made sense to recertify our people as experts in the disinfection of facilities from Corona Virus.  Having completed the first large scale disinfection in a senior living facility already, California SaniClean is looking forward to keeping our community healthy and clean!
