Women in Business Network 25/03/2021 With Jewellery designer Chupi Sweetman Durney
Have you signed up for the next LEO Wexford Women in Business Network meeting? Taking place on the 25th March at 11.30 with speaker Jewellery designer Chupi Sweetman Durney.
Chupi Sweetman Durney designs timeless heirloom jewellery to celebrate life's most precious moments. What started out as a hobby in her spare room is now a multi-million-euro business selling to 67 countries around the world.
The business has evolved through a strong digital strategy, taking the Irish strengths of storytelling to the modern platforms of social media and ecommerce.
At 21, she was scouted by Topshop from her first year in college and was the youngest designer to ever work for the company. After a six-year career in fast-fashion, Chupi wanted to create something that lasted forever and which celebrated Ireland’s design heritage - in 2013, Chupi the brand was born.
It has been a rapid journey from Irish start-up to an internationally acclaimed multi-award-winning brand!

‘Irish Sea Mist’ from Bridgetown College has been crowned this year’s Senior winner in the Wexford Student Enterprise Programme. ‘Irish Sea Mist’ is run by student Lauren Williams under the guidance of her teacher, Sinéad Fortune. Lauren produces and sells sea-based face mists which use natural ingredients to soothe users’ skin.
Over 850 students from 16 secondary schools across Wexford took part in this year’s Student Enterprise Programme (SEP). Students ran their own mini-companies and did so successfully, despite COVID-19 restrictions. From the 16 schools, over 40 mini-companies were chosen to take part in online remote interviews with this year’s County Judges in order to decide this year’s trophy winners. Other category winners included ‘Evan’s Handmade Gifts’ (Wexford CBS) in the Intermediate category and ‘2 Peas in a Pod’ (St Mary’s Secondary School, New Ross) in the Junior category. These mini-companies, along with ‘Irish Sea Mist’, can now go on to represent Wexford in the National Student Enterprise competition in May.
This year’s Wexford SEP winners were announced during a livestream on YouTube. The livestream also featured Wexford jewellery designer Bláithín Ennis and a message from Mick D’Arcy from local band ‘Corner Boy’. You can see a list of all the trophy winners from this year’s Wexford SEP below
