The father and son team of Albert & Matt Love caught the tournament big bass @ 8.88 along with single under to total their bag 10.32, enough for 1st place in the 2021 season kickoff on Lake Athens February 27th, 2021 for the Cowboy Church Bass Club. The big bass is Matt’s personal best and bit on a red sunset craw lipless crank bait off the corner of a dock. Their other keeper along with a few slots were caught on a jerkbait. 2nd place @ 9.03 went to Derick Sullivan throwing squarebills and a red trap. 3rd @ 8.62 went to the Barfield hammers of Bryan and Kyle catching their limit on red traps. The 4th place sack @ 8.02 was caught by team Kevin Davis/Byron McFarland on swim baits over grass. 5th place went to Joe & Tina Crouch’s now grown grandsons Joe & Michael Walden with 3 @ 7.41 on c-rigs and jerkbaits in 10-15’ of water. A total of 6 “overs” were weighed in, including the tournament 2nd place BB caught by Brandon Clayton on a red chatterbait.

Charley David shared the devotional, relating life to what we’ve all been challenged with from the most recent winter storm, to the months and past year we’ve all endured with political & social unrest, and of course, COVID. Whether it’s enduring a home with no water or no power, or being afflicted with COVID along with the job-related challenges, being prepared in every facet of life is not only wise, it’s spiritually smart. Charley shared that the Bible specifically demands that we be prepared in
Ephesians 6:15 where Paul writes “and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace”.
In fact,
Ephesians 6:10-17 refers to being “spiritually prepared” by fitting yourself with the “Armor of God”
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Most importantly, always be prepared to share the Gospel. God will give you the opportunity and the words.
