Saving lives together!
REDCOLLAR RESCUE often help dogs in dire straits!  Below are some of the recent abuse cases we have taken in, each one requiring extensive care and thousands of dollars in medical bills!  We are saddened that these animals suffered at the hands of humans, and are determined they will survive and experience nothing but love from this point forward!
TWILIGHT is currently in 24/7 critical care! She was found lying on her side, unable to move, and having difficulty breathing. We rushed her to the ER.  Numerous tests were done, but no diagnosis confirmed.  Her condition was deteriorating quickly! We transferred her to a neurologist who recommended an MRI and spinal tap.  Results showed Twilight to have a huge contusion, large hematoma, and abscess on the tissue surrounding her spinal cord, most likely caused by trauma from a blunt force object. Surgery was performed, and Twilight was found to also have an "extremely rare condition" called "Dermoid Sinus (DS)" which contributed to her paralysis and meningitis. She still cannot walk or stand on her own, but is able to crawl a bit, which is HUGE!  It could take weeks to months of rehab, but with proper care, the vets feel Twilight has a good chance at regaining mobility!
STEELE was found "unresponsive" near a construction site. He was suffering from hypothermia after being left alone outside in the cold all night. His body temperature was so low, it would not even register on the thermometer. He was rushed to the ER! After oxygen, warming blankets, and IV fluids, he regained consciousness. Steele remained in the hospital for several days, but made a full recovery!  This little blue-eyed boy is about 4 months old and 18 lbs, and he is ready to find his forever home!
ALVIN was confiscated by authorities in horrific condition from his owner's back yard. He was kept on a chain 24/7, which became embedded into his skin as he grew, and had to be surgically removed.   Alvin is less than1 year old and also has retinal degeneration.  He has some sight in the day, but is totally blind at night. Per the ophthalmologist, poor nutrition in Alvin's early months could have led to early onset of this condition, for which there is no cure.  Despite it all, Alvin is an incredibly sweet and loving boy!  Alvin is ready for adoption and would do best in a home with another K9 buddy to follow!
FOREST, LAKE & BROOK were dumped into a ravine by a heartless human!  A witness notified Police who called RCR for HELP!  We got there ASAP, but it was already dark.  We found the 1st puppy still in the filthy crate they were dumped in, a 2nd puppy the next morning in a humane trap we set, and a 3rd puppy hiding in the woods. We searched for several days and nights in case there were any more pups, but according to the witness, we got them all! These babies were skin and bones and covered in feces and fleas. After a trip to the vet, they went to a foster home and are learning to trust humans.  We estimate their age to be 5-6 months old.  Forest, the only boy, is 14 lbs, Lake is 11 lbs, and Brook is 9 lbs.  Available for adoption soon!
Once in our program, we are committed to giving our fur kids the best care possible. We provide the time and energy, but we need help from our supporters and community to provide the financial resources so we can continue our life-saving mission.
