We'd also love to see you at bingo next weekend! It's on Saturday 20 March 5.30pm. Drop me an email and I'll send you the details.

Hope to see you there,

Fourth Sunday of Lent Church Service | All Are Welcome!
Revd Mark preaches for the fourth Sunday of Lent.

Watch Bishop Steven's third video on the creed

The third part of the Creed makes the remarkable claim that Jesus rose from the dead, three days after he was crucified. What lies beyond that final shadow?

Online Bingo!
Saturday 5.30pm 20 March - all ages welcome.

If you wish to join in, please contact the church office, who will send you the link. Also contact Judy, 715484 or jandj.robbins@btinternet.com who will deliver you bingo cards.

This is a free event, but if you wish to donate to St Laurence Church, please see details above.

Easter Cleaning
As the church will be open for Easter, if anyone would like to offer an hour or so to either do a bit of cleaning in the church or tidy up the rosebeds, please contact Jo on 07803 942687. This will be coordinated to ensure that no more than 3 people are in the church at any one time, to allocate jobs so there is no duplication, and to ensure the church is not in use. This will happen the week beginning 29 March. Thank you!

St Laurence Shop
We are planning to reopen the shop as soon as non-essential retail opens and are in desperate need of storage space. Paul's garage is full to overflowing and we need to vacate the St Laurence Room. Can you help? Please phone Paul Cresswell on 01296 713129 or 07970 784398.

Easter Day at St Laurence
There is a sign-up sheet for the Easter Day services on the tabletop inside the West Door. It would be helpful if you could, by Good Friday lunchtime, let us know that you would like to attend, and the size of your bubble. If you can't get to church, please phone Chris Ryalls on 01296 712029 and he will add you to the list. There will be a 'seating plan' for the 9.30 Easter Day service.

Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross are now up in St Laurence Church. Please stay safe and do not try to cross the tape.

Five booklets are there for people to use, and, this year, take away. You can also download a copy to view on your phone or click here for a printable version.

Easter lillies
The flower group will be decorating the church for Easter. If you would like to make a donation towards some Easter lilies in memory of a loved one, please put it in an envelope and deliver it to 1 Chequers End, Winslow.
Many thanks, Cathy Ryalls

World Day of Prayer
It was really good to see so many of you joining in the Zoom service. We are sorry that not all of you could join in this year, although I know some followed the service in their homes. Hopefully next year will be better!

We failed to mention donations for the Women's World Day of Prayer during the service. The only funds they receive are from the annual service, so obviously, funds will be well down this year. If you would like to donate you can go so either via WWDP website; by text to 70085 using the phrase 2021WDP followed by the amount you wish to donate or direct to the office; Commercial Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN1 2RR. Thank you so much for your generosity.

Book Group
Living with the Psalms by John Bell is the current book for our Book Group. We shall meet by Zoom on 12 April at 6.45pm to chat about what we thought of it. Newcomers are always welcome to join us generally or, if you fancy, just for one meeting. If you would like to know more please contact Didier at didier@winslowbenefice.org.uk.

#FaithTalks - Keep firm in the hope

"Keep us firm in the hope that you have set before us so that we and all your people shall be free."
'As we pray the Lord's Prayer, we put ourselves into that gap - the very place where Jesus lived and ministered, taught and healed, the space in which he suffered and died. Does that sound odd? We like to think that prayer might teleport us to heaven so that we can escape the pain and injustice of this world. More often it sensitizes us to the pain of the world, attunes us to its realities and empowers us to respond,'

Stephen Cherry, Dean of King's College, Cambridge.

Readings

Readings for Sunday:
Colossians 3.12-17
John 19.25-27

For reflection:
What does hope mean for you and how would you distinguish hope from wish?
What does it mean to 'keep us firm?'
What do you think might be meant by freedom in a Christian context?

Click here for the week's readings.
