Access hundreds of funds on Funding Wales

On there, you can search grant and loan opportunities from local, national and international sources. There are small grants to large capital projects available. It’s completely free, and you can register today on the Funding Wales website.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Deadline: 31/03/21.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund is sponsoring a sustainability award at the 2021 Museums + Heritage Awards. They’re seeking the most outstanding environmentally sustainable project or exhibition which can demonstrate best practice in its approach to managing environmental effects during 2020. Examples should be of:
  • energy efficiency measures
  • recycling and reuse
  • sustainable procurement
  • green visitor travel, planning and encouragement

Lloyds Bank Foundation England and Wales

Grants are available for small and local charities helping people overcome complex social issues. Learn more and apply on the Lloyds Bank Foundation’s website.

The Margaret Dobson Further Education Trust

This trust funds organisations to help young people and others with learning difficulties and other special educational needs. Learn more on the Margaret Dobson Further Education Trust website.

The Baring Foundation

The foundation funds projects that promote the role of creativity for people with mental health problems from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Learn more on the Baring Foundation’s website.

People’s Postcode Trust

In Wales, the trust supports charities in monthly rounds. These close after 100 applications have been received, and the priorities are:
  • mental wellbeing
  • community participation in arts
  • reducing the effects of poverty
  • promoting equality
  • biodiversity and green space

Simon Gibson Charitable Trust

This trust is keen to hear from registered charities or community interest companies. They provide core and specific project funding. They have a bias towards organisations that favour young and elderly people, or those with conservational, educational or religious purposes. Learn more on the Simon Gibson Charitable Trust website

Masonic Charitable Foundation

This programme supports national and local charities helping disadvantaged children and young people overcome barriers. Small grants range from £1k to £15k, and large grants are between £10k to £60k. Read more on the Masonic Charitable Foundation website.
 

Thomas Wall Trust

Deadline: 30/04/21
This trust supports people with an emphasis on building confidence, knowledge and skills, and thereby seeks to increase employment prospects. Grants are up to £5k. This is for specific projects or core activities that support literacy, numeracy, digital and additional skills, and learning to support employment. Learn more on the Thomas Wall Trust website.

Hilden Charitable Fund

Deadline: 16/04/21
This fund is for projects in developing countries working on community development, education and health. In particular, they welcome projects that address the needs and potential of girls and women. Average grants are £5k. Learn more on the Hilden Charitable Fund website.

 

Training and events

Consultation on the Welsh Government White Paper ‘Rebalancing Care and Support’

Date: Tuesday 10am to 12pm 23/03/21.
South East Wales CVCs are inviting you to a consultation on this White Paper. The consultation is about improving social care arrangements and strengthening partnership working to better support people’s wellbeing. We want to provide a comprehensive, sector-wide response to the consultation, which has 12 questions and closes on 8/04/21. Book a space at the ‘Rebalancing Care and Support’ consultation.

Networking event: ‘Let’s Talk About The Outdoors’

Booking deadline: 15/03/21
Date: 10:30am to 12:30pm 18/03/21

This is a chance to network with community groups in the Pen-y-Cymoedd area of benefit. It has an outdoors theme, and so is great for groups seeking ideas or partners for those kinds of projects. Places are limited, and so please book as soon as possible to secure your space on the 'Let's Talk About the Outdoors' Eventbrite page.

Meet the Funder Learning Event with an ‘Outdoors’ theme 

Date: 10:30am to 12:30pm, 25/03/21
Learn how to have more funding success so your project blossoms. You’ll discover what funders are looking for in applications so they're likelier to get approved. In addition to us, funders will be there including the Pen Y Cymoedd Community Wind Farm Fund, Coalfields Regeneration, and the Cranfield Trust. Safeguarding Community of Practice

Date: 10am 18/03/21

Inspiring Impact, Communicating your Findings

Date: 2pm 23/03/21

Wellbeing support for small business owners

COVID-19 has negatively affected the mental health and wellbeing of 82% of small business owners. If that includes you, join one of RCS’s upcoming events for ideas, inspiration, and practical tools for supporting your or your team’s wellbeing and mental health. 
 

Resources

Win up to £2k by completing NCVO’s monthly survey

Deadline: 22/02/21
The NCVO wants to gather evidence of the pandemic’s affect on charities, community groups and social enterprises. Filling in the survey about the pandemic’s affect on volunteering enters you into a monthly prize draw for £200. At the end of the project, there will be a prize draw for £2k. Take the NCVO’s survey here.
 

Community-based working space opening at the ‘Workshed’

RHA are opening a place you can use as office space. You will be able to work, print, hold meetings and link up with other local businesses in the ground floor of their Compton Road premises in Tonypandy. Let them know what else you might need from the project via the Workshed feedback form.

Win a £10 voucher for taking part in a shielding survey

To learn more about the experience of shielding, we’ve commissioned the Bevan Foundation to speak to people in Rhondda Cynon Taf who:

  • have been advised to shield
  • are self-shielding
  • are supporting someone who is shielding
