The Season of Lent is a time of renewal and our Catholic Tradition offers us three types of practices during this time. Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving. Each week there will be some suggestions and resources to help us during this Lent.
PRAYER
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
There is the opportunity to pray the Stations of the Cross at St Mary's (MK17 8NN) at 10.30 am on Friday morning and at St Augustine's (MK13 7PL) at 6.30pm on Friday evenings.

The Stations of the Cross are a beautiful and ancient way in which we can journey with Christ through his final journey to the cross and reflect on the immense love that He has for us all.

The Living Lent Daily e-mail series for 2021 will be filled with lessons of hope and courage. Inspired by the new book, I Am with You: Lessons of Hope and Courage in Times of Crisis by Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, our daily reflections will encourage us in confusing and turbulent times. Featured authors include Cardinal Dolan, Pope Francis, Vinita Hampton Wright, and Becky Eldredge. The messages also include suggestions for further exploration of Lenten themes through additional online articles and prayers.

Take time each day for Living Lent Daily, and prepare your heart for a new appreciation of the journey to Easter.

Fasting

Walk for Water is the only Lent challenge you need: 10,000 steps a day - done your way. Every day. For 40 days. Go the distance this Lent and help to end water poverty.

You don’t have to get tied in a knot about how to do it: whether you hop it; skip it; slide it; run it; jump it; dance it; stamp it; stomp it. It doesn’t matter how you do it, just as long as you put your heart and soul into it.

Sign up now, raise money and do something different to fight poverty.

Almsgiving
St Edward’s Traditional Coin Collection for Lent
During Lent, many of us are reminded once again to examine our lifestyles and ask, “What can we do for others?” Lent is a good time to commit to giving money to a project that helps those in need. One way to involve the whole family is to collect coins during the season of Lent, then donate what has been collected after Easter. Follow the Coins for Lent Giving Calendar as a guide, it suggests giving one coin for each of the items named that you have in your home. (Eg One coin for each tap in your home)

MONEY MATTERS
A number of people have once again enquired about ways in which they can support the work of our parishes financially during this time.

You can do so in one of three ways:

(1) STANDING ORDER VIA YOUR OWN BANK
You can set up a standing order for donations to your parish using either your on line bank account or in branch. The information required to make the donation is as follows:

Bank: NatWest
Sort Code: 60-06-11
Account Name: 46898093
Account Name: Northampton Roman Catholic Diocesan Trust
Payment Ref: **Please enter the Parish Name and Area**

(2) CALL THE FINANCE OFFICE AND DONATE OVER THE PHONE
Every Tuesday between 10am - 4pm, a member of the Diocesan Finance Team will be available for you to donate to one of our Parishes over the telephone. To donate simply call 01604 712065 with your debit or credit card details. The money will go directly to the parish that you designate.

(3) ONLINE DONATION
It is possible to donate online using the link below and specifying the Parish that you wish to donate in both the "Leave a Message" section and the "Leave your name / nickname" sections. This will ensure that any donations will go towards the Parish you wish to support.
