This opportunity will be available for credit from now until Sunday (3/14) at midnight. You will need to complete 15 classifications to receive credit for the volunteer point. Make sure to complete the submission form to receive credit for your participation.

Check out THIS DOCUMENT for more information on how to complete the volunteering requirements, and submit your final classification total HERE.

Join us for this fun and friendly case competition! Participating in this case competition is a terrific and low-pressure way to hone your teamwork and presentation skills and make valuable connections with CCLB business representatives.

Students pursuing actuarial science or risk management of all class levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. The competition will draw upon general business knowledge and there is no presumed level of understanding of actuarial science or risk management required.

How does this case competition work?
Registered students will be assigned to a team with three other students. Prior to the event, you and your teammates will be given three short articles to read related to the theme of the event as background. On Thursday, you will be given time to prepare, record, and upload a presentation responding to two prompts related to that theme.

Representatives from the CCLB companies will act as judges and evaluate the teams’ presentations. The highest scoring team from each section will enter the finals. The finalists are given a follow up question still related to the original theme. They will then prepare and present in real time their recommendations that will be judged with the best team declared the winner. Winning team members will have their names engraved on a plaque in 5252 Grainger and will be able to tout the coveted title of case competition champions.

Of course all participants are winners as everyone gains valuable experience in problem solving, teamwork, and presentation skills.  Also included in the event are chances to network and learn from the representatives of the five CCLB companies.

Questions??
If you have questions, contact Jodi Wortsman at jodi.wortsman@wisc.edu or (608) 262-0891.

*4-6:30pm time on Friday could be shifted slightly earlier or later if the Badger Basketball team plays their first round NCAA tournament game during this time

This event is sponsored by the UW-Madison Risk and Insurance CCLB companies American Family Insurance, CUNA Mutual Group, Humana, Milliman, Swiss Re, and Travelers. The objective of the CCLB is to generate opportunities for students to interact with business representatives, developing professional skills outside the classroom in an informal way.
