March Community Call ‘Why do some researchers have reservations about preprints? Let’s ask them’

Our next Community Call will take place on March 25 (1pm EDT/5pm UTC/6pm CET) and we will discuss concerns which researchers may have about posting preprints. Iratxe and the ASAPbio Fellow Yamini Ravichandran will chair a conversation with two guest speakers who will share their reservations about preprints:

• Howard Browman, Principal Research Scientist at the Institute of Marine Research in Bergen (Norway), Editor-in-Chief of ICES Journal of Marine Science, Member of Council, Committee on Publication Ethics, Member, Editorial Policy Committee, Council of Science Editors
• Seth Leopold, Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine (US), Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research

Join us to hear the perspectives of those who have concerns about preprints and an opportunity to discuss how they view preprints developing for their disciplines and for science communication more broadly.

'Preprints in motion: tracking changes between posting and journal publication' - Several community members take a look at the differences between v1 preprint abstracts and their published versions.

'Peer review in transition?' - The Research on Research Institute (RoRI) calls for publishers and other stakeholders to describe their peer review innovations in a new survey, closing April 9.

OAI12 – The Geneva Workshop on Innovations in Scholarly Communication has an open call for proposals for the event, which will be held virtually 6-10 September 2021.
