I hear the beautiful sound of rain as I type this message to you. The sound reminds me of the message that Jesus has for each one of us as we pass by the large rugged cross at the back of the auditorium each Sunday, "By my blood, you are cleansed". This coming Sunday we will delve deeper into our Seven Striking Sentences course by exploring the fourth statement Jesus made as He hung on the cross. I encourage you to join us to hear Jesus' specific message for you.
We are thrilled to announce that we are in the throes of organising our new women's ministry called "Women Today". You will hear more about Women Today events in the coming weeks, but please lock the details of our first event into your diary. We are kicking off on Thursday 27 May at 7pm - 8:30pm with Mel Marks, who will speak to us on "Positive Body Image". This inspiring talk will be followed by a Fashion Show! A night not to be missed!

SMALL GROUP NOTES
WEEK 4 14 MARCH 2021 SEVEN STRIKING SENTENCES COURSE
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Mark 15:33-34
The Seven Striking Sentences Course takes the participant on a journey through the seven final phrases that Jesus uttered before His death on the cross. His words still hold meaning for our lives today. Allow yourself to approach the course with an open heart and mind so that you may receive God’s specific message for you.
The small group experience will assist you to discuss and ponder the topics that Jesus’ sentences raise, and how they may be applied to our lives. You are encouraged to support each other as you undertake this journey to Jesus’ resurrection. There is no pressure to engage in any of the topics listed below, they are simply “conversation starters” and may be followed at your discretion. Your small group may prefer to discuss other matters related to forgiveness.
We pray that as you listen to the weekly message, talk and weigh up the subject before us, that Jesus fills you with peace, insight and freedom. Amen.
Topics for individual or small group consideration:
What does the expression “dark night of the soul” make one think of in relation to Jesus hanging on the cross?
What sort of emotions may Jesus have felt when He asked God why He had forsaken Him?
Some theologians believe that all Christians will have times when they feel God has abandoned them. What is your response to this?
Jesus’ desperate emotions were not the final verdict of His death and resurrection. What hope does this give us?
If you feel comfortable to do so, share a story with your small group about a time when God brought good out of a difficulty that you faced.
