Hi, my name is Sheila. I was in the grips of addiction for more than 15 years. I am a mother to three beautiful children, one of which is special needs. I was in a toxic relationship for a little over 10 years with a narcissistic man, whom I was seeking my value from. I was a shell of a human being when I finally let go and reached out for help.
A friend introduced me to Kathleen at Grace Ministries. When I called, she put me in touch with Awakenings House where Grace Ministries helped pay my rent for the first couple months. That helped lead me to build a foundation under my feet. They also connected me to a mentor (who is by far God's gift to me). My mentor taught the tools to help me work on myself, while staying by my side with compassion the whole time.
It gives me hope when I see these women who have been through the same experiences as I have, and how they now carry themselves. Today, I am able to hold my head up high and walk with intention and love others. I am so thankful that I'm here to tell you that if you just surrender, God will do incredible things! And if you’re that girl with a heavy heart (the girl I used to be): REACH OUT, COME HOME! You are so loved!
Community
We would like to introduce you to one of our community partners: Hadassah's Hope.
Hadassah's Hope is a gospel-centered outreach to women working in strip clubs in and around Jacksonville, Florida. Its volunteers are committed to ministering to women right where they are and pointing them to Jesus, who is the only HOPE.
Every 1st and 3rd Saturday, volunteers go into 11 clubs in the Jacksonville area for one hour just to love and serve these girls and share the love and hope of Jesus. They bring a gift and/or homecooked meal and serve it, putting it onto plates as a way to show the girls that they are loved and cared for. They simply hang out, enjoy good conversation, and offer prayer. No expectations or agendas. Simply love.

Awakenings House 1st Annual Race for Hope
Join us for the 1st Annual Run/Walk for HOPE 5K to Benefit The Villages of Hope, an expansion of Awakenings House! This event will be held Saturday April 24, 2021 at ORANGE PARK CITY HALL.
5K starts at 8 a.m.
