Dear Parent/Carer,
As we reach the end of our first week back after College re-opening on 8 th March, I wanted to thank you for your support in enabling us to re-open safely for our students and our staff community. It has been a challenge for schools nationally, as we have had to carry out mass lateral flow testing of students, return to face to face learning, deliver remote education and continue to offer Educare provision - your support with the various aspects has been invaluable.
I also wanted to share with you some details of the lateral flow testing with which I am particularly pleased:
- there have been no positive tests, from a total of 784 tests carried out, as of 10.03.21 and the first cycle of testing;
- 95% of parents have provided consent for lateral flow testing, compared to numbers reported in the national press, suggesting that only 9% of schools have achieved this level of consent;
- all of our staff are testing twice weekly and, again, there have been no positive tests.
This is a reassuring picture and I would like to offer my sincerest thanks for all you have done, to prepare students for the testing and for their return: it has been a tremendous team effort. We are all now looking forward to next week, when we can resume face to face learning for all of our students.
With my very best wishes
Julie Bevan
