HSCP Physical Abuse Webinar a great success
More than 50 professionals from organisations across Herefordshire came together virtually on 9th March to see Herefordshire safeguarding professionals describe issues around physical abuse in this informative specially produced Herefordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership webinar, which also incorporated a live Q&A session afterwards.
Feedback from the webinar highlighted:
the importance of submitting a MARF in a timely way;
that the event gave a greater understanding what signs or symptoms of what to look for;
that it was a good method and ideal length of time for professionals to remember content; and
100% of attendees who gave feedback said that their understanding of the topic had improved following the session.
A copy of the webinar is now available to view on our YouTube channel.

Important Change to safeguarding training from 1st April
We are pleased to announce a new improved system for booking and managing your multi agency safeguarding training in Herefordshire, and a new FREE training offer.
The web address will remain the same but when you access herefordshirecpd.co.uk from 1st April you will be taken to a completely new booking system that is very simple, efficient and much easier to use. A new account will be required to use the system.
Please remember that on 30th March all access to existing CPD Online user accounts will stop. If you need to download old safeguarding course certificates or training records, you must log in to your existing account to do that before the end of March.
As we are focussed on getting as many people trained as we can, most training will now be FREE to attend for all agencies. Non-attendance will understandably continue to be charged for, so that valuable training places are not wasted.

Do you have a good news story to share?
The past year has of course been difficult for everyone, including in the area of safeguarding, but we know that many professionals have adapted to the challenging times that we have all faced and come up with new and innovative ways of working.
We would love to showcase these to help inspire others, so if you have a successful new way of working, or just a general good news story about working in safeguarding in the last year that you would like us to include in a future bulletin then please get in touch with the team and let us know.
In early March some TASP member volunteers teamed up with For Baby’s Sake Trust to advise on this upcoming webinar. Thank you to those who participated, and please note we would be keen to see you at this full Working Group Webinar.
This is an invitation to a Working Webinar to all who have a role to play whether you yourself are operationally active or you provide support to professionals who:
work with adults, particularly but not exclusively parents
TASP is working with The For Baby’s Sake Trust on a project to support those who work with parents who have unresolved childhood trauma. This includes making available to the TASP network some tools that The Trust has developed through their pioneering programme, For Baby’s Sake. These tools bring together widely transferrable lessons about working with parents.
The tools help open up trauma-informed conversations. Through their use parents who have had adverse childhood experiences can discover sustainable and long-lasting ways of helping and supporting their own children so that they receive a better start in life. The tools are accompanied by practical tips and guidance for using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches to working with parents with unresolved trauma and also when working with their children
This webinar will explore some of the issues for opening up conversations about trauma with parents and children, the challenges you might face when working with parents in this area and the importance of taking regard for self-care and care for teams when introducing the issue of trauma. It is also intended to support senior leadership to be “trauma informed” and supporting joined-up thinking.
Led by the For Baby Sake team who developed the tools, in conversation with professionals who work closely with parents and children, the webinar will also introduce each of the tools and how they can be used to help both leaders and practitioners, first in supervision and then in practice, as they seek to support parents and children
The webinar is for anyone who works with or manages teams that work with parents and/or children where there are intergenerational cycles of traumatic adversity.
TASP is keen to work with Partners who can deliver positive outcomes for parents and their children and we are pleased to facilitate this conversation.
