Reimagine Plainfield Aims to Create a Destination to Work, Shop and Live
The Plainfield Corridor Redevelopment Advisory Committee is finalizing a draft of the Plainfield Avenue corridor redevelopment plan that includes significant updates to meet the need for a more sustainable area to work, shop and live.
The plan is expected to be made public later this month.
The committee has worked with Township staff and local consultants for more than a year to develop a long-term revitalization strategy for the corridor – known as Reimagine Plainfield – to promote growth, reinvestment and retention of businesses that support the community, its identity and services that support Township residents.

Trustees Consider New Timeline, Location for Community Center Project
The Plainfield Township Board of Trustees has resumed the discussion around a new community center with consideration of a new location.
During Monday’s meeting, Board members were presented two additional site proposals. They also expressed interest in adding ballot language as early as the Nov. 2 election for voters to decide on the project, if details and plans are ready.
Board Approves Construction of New Well for Water Plant
The Board of Trustees approved a proposal for the engineering and construction of a new well for the Water Plant during its Monday meeting.
The new well will supplement the Water Plant’s water supply capacity and reduce the strain on existing wells during peak demand times.

Fire Department Breaks the Ice in Latest Training
The Plainfield Township Fire Department recently completed ice rescue training at Dean Lake for scenarios involving a person falling through ice.
The department practices these drills seasonally to ensure it maintains a high level of training in this type of rescue.

Township to Begin Spring Fire Hydrant Flushing
The Township will begin its regular spring flushing of water mains this month, which may result in discolored water.
If this happens, let your faucet run until it clears up. The discolored water is not harmful, but residents should wait for it to clear up before ingesting.

Kent County Health Department Expands Vaccination Eligibility
The Kent County Health Department has expanded vaccination eligibility to residents who meet the following criteria:
50 years or older with a pre-existing condition or disability
Caregiver family member or guardian for children with special health care needs
Starting Monday, March 22, vaccine eligibility will further expand to include all Michigan residents who are 50 or older.
