hub Impact Assessment report published

An independent evaluation report that recognises the success of the SFT-managed hub Programme has just been published, confirming that since its establishment ten years ago, it has delivered in excess of £2.2bn investment in around 200 projects in Scotland.

First class datacentre sites identified in new reports

Twelve prime sites have been identified as the result of a study which has been developed to help establish Scotland as an attractive location for green datacentres and to accelerate inward investment from the datacentre sector. 

Host in Scotland, a datacentre sector support initiative set up by SFT and in partnership with Scottish Enterprise and Crown Estate Scotland have today published two datacentre site selection reports, which were undertaken by datacentre specialists TechRE on their behalf, highlighting a wide range of locations across Scotland that fulfil a number of key datacentre criteria.

Infralink programme goes live

Scottish Government recently launched the Infralink programme, marking the first steps to breaking down complex processes and legislative barriers that can negatively impact the rollout of 4G and 5G infrastructure across Scotland.

The Scotland 5G Centre, Infralink is led by SFT where our skills have been used to help bring public sector bodies that value improved connectivity together with mobile network operators who can deliver it.

Publication of the Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard

Today we have published the Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard, aimed at supporting public bodies meet their net zero commitments for their new build and major refurbished projects.

The Standard has been developed by SFT's Low Carbon team in partnership with Scottish Government, Zero Waste Scotland and
NHS National Services Scotland as well as input from across the construction and public sectors in Scotland.

Ten year school plan delivered

Lossiemouth High School in Moray, the 117th and last school in the SFT-managed Scotland’s Schools for the Future Programme, has been handed over to the local council and will open to pupils in April after the Easter break.

Talking at the end of the programme, Education Secretary John Swinney said: “These schools are at the heart of their communities which is why our investment has been absolutely essential. Looking forward, we will continue our successful partnership with local authorities beyond this milestone to build more schools delivered through the new £2 billion Learning Estate Investment Programme.”

Gemma Boggs who leads SFT's education infrastructure programmes, said: “The success of the Scotland’s Schools for the Future programme is the result of an enormous collaborative effort right across Scotland. As programme managers, we have worked with countless partners and organisations to improve the condition of the school estate."
