Luce
IGT Toscana & Brunello

Luce della Vite's blend of Sangiovese and Merlot was the first Super Tuscan wine to emerge from Montalcino in the early 90s. Originally a joint venture with Mondavi, it is now 100% owned by Frescobaldi. There is also a tiny production of Brunello di Montalcino, which has garnered much critical acclaim over the years. The wines have become highly sought after and these latest releases are two of the best yet.

2018 Luce, Toscana IGT

60 Bot @ £540 per 6 Bot Case, in bond
£664.07 duty & VAT paid

A dense and wonderfully layered Luce with a solid center palate and ever so polished tannins. So long and beautiful. Full body. Flavorful and impressive. One of the best I have tasted.
97-98 points James Suckling

2016 Luce, Brunello di Montalcino

30 Bot @ £270 per 3 Bot Case, in bond
£332.04 duty & VAT paid

Ripe, decadent aromas of blackberries, black truffles and black cherries with hints of violets. Dark, wet earth, too. Full-bodied with a solid core of beautiful, pure fruit and creamy, round and fine tannins. Tight and reserved, but showing wonderful potential. Try after 2025.
98 points James Suckling
