Many ways to pray

With so many ways to pray, any Catholic can find a way that fits their needs to grow closer to God during Lent. (Lorna Roberts, Dreamstime.com)

Conversations with God

It might seem like we have been living through Lent for 12 months already. But now, in the true holy season, is the perfect time to recommit ourselves to a life centered on God and not ourselves. How about praying in short spells throughout the day or trying a new type of prayer to grow and stretch us?

JUST ONE MINUTE

I remember some of my most hilarious moments of childhood occurred around the dinner table with my parents and my fellow energetic brothers. In my family now I do enjoy the times of sharing and laughing around the table. Overall I believe I would not and my children would not be the same people we are if it were not for the family time around the table. Remember Jesus deliberately gathered the disciples around a table for the Last Supper. Gathering around a table to share our lives is in our spiritual veins.

Reflection: Next week, strive to deliberately gather as a family for a couple of meals. Turn off all electronics and enjoy one another. Notice deeply your experience and later visit with Jesus about your experience of gathering around a table with those you love.

New hybrid: Yea or nay?

Do you think I should get a new hybrid car to save money on gas? A lot of my friends have done this, and they’re telling me I should, too. According to them, I’ll save a ton of money, especially since I have a bigger car and a longer drive to work.
The real cost is ...

PANDEMIC

Anniversary to not celebrate

This week marks the one-year anniversary since the pandemic was declared. There are no celebrations, just reflection on what was lost over the past 12 months. What have parishes, ministries and schools learned? How did the parishes do financially with fewer fundraisers?
