We Fight for HER

Dear Fellow Advocate,

Thank you to everyone who took our survey regarding your biggest concerns related to women and gender nonconforming people in our legal system. Over the next few weeks, we will be amplifying those concerns to everyone running for NYC Mayor and Manhattan DA.
Here are some of the responses we received from our survey:
Reasons why it is important that Rikers closes ASAP:
Rikers Island population update:
  • As of Thursday, March 4th, there are 272 women being detained on Rikers.
  • The average length of stay for a woman on Rikers is currently 229 days.
