Update and news 12th March 2021

Dear <<First Name>>,

From Monday 8 March the government announced that Care home residents will be able to be visited indoors by a single, named individual as part of the Prime Minister’s roadmap to ease lockdown restrictions.

We are working around-the-clock to get fully prepared for our new visiting arrangements and in addition carrying out individual risk assessments and LFD Testing training for staff. We have decided to facilitate these indoor visits in the conservatory which has access from the side of the house, which prevents any footfall through the home and it also has plenty of ventilation.

And while this is a positive step closer to normal care home visiting, I want to reassure you our priority has always been and will continue to be preventing the spread of Covid-19 and maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our residents, their visitors, and our teams.

At all times, we continue to take direction from our local Public Health regarding the ‘R’ rate and monitor this ourselves very carefully. We will also consistently be reviewing our visiting guidance, and this may change instantly, as, and when required.

An overview of indoor visiting arrangements to commence on 22nd March will be outlined in next week’s newsletter.

Indoor visits will be subject to a Lateral flow test and must be in line with government guidance and our infection, prevention, and control measures.

End of Life Visits
Should your relative become acutely unwell or be approaching their final days of life we continue to accommodate essential visits. In these circumstances we can allow up to 2 relatives from the same household to visit supported with a lateral flow test.

Continuing to deliver safe care
Since the early stages of the pandemic, we have had processes in place to protect everyone in our care. And these continue to be in place, ensuring Culliford House remains safe as it possibly can be:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): at the start of this pandemic, we worked around the clock to ensure we had sufficient levels of PPE so they can continue to deliver high-quality care safely. We continue to maintain sufficient levels of PPE.
  • Covid-19 testing cycles; Our staff take part in weekly PCR testing and twice a week lateral flow testing, while our residents complete a PCR test every 28 days.
  • Vaccinations: Our staff team and residents have already received their first vaccination with some staff having already received their second.
  • Safe admissions: we remain open to safe admissions, where new residents self-isolate for a 14-day period. Following their self-isolation, all new residents will take a Covid-19 test and will join the same re-testing cycle as other residents.
  • Robust cleaning and infection controls: our housekeeping teams continue to deliver enhanced cleaning and infection control practices, following the latest guidance and training at all times.
  • Full training and ongoing communications: staff have received additional training in infection control and how to keep all our residents as safe as possible during the current pandemic, as well as receiving weekly, Covid-19 information and updates.

Please do email Marnie Moors our Deputy Manager if you have any questions or concerns.
