🌷Easter Holidays🌷

Hello Everyone,

I feel in a much better mood since our last newsletter! Now the kids are back at school again I’m actually looking forward to the holidays this time. With the weather taking a turn for the better, the relaxing of some lockdown rules and the thought of eating chocolate for breakfast, things are certainly looking up!

This year, North Yorkshire County Council school holidays run a little differently from the rest of the UK. Usually this works to our advantage, but sadly not this year. On the 12th April 2021, lockdown rules are set to ease again with lots more businesses able to open. This is also the day our children go back to school.🙈

This means there are still limited events and places for us to go this Easter. The good news is that as of 29th March 2021 the “stay at home” rule will end and outdoor gatherings (including private gardens) of either 6 people or 2 households will be allowed, making it easier for friends and families to meet outside.

Luckily, we have lots of places locally that will be open - and are looking forward to welcoming you all over the Easter break. We also have plenty of holiday child care solutions too, as well as some brilliant ways to celebrate Easter at home. To find out what’s going on, head over to our Easter Holiday page.

Take Care and Happy Easter 😁 Now someone pass me a hot cross bun…

Love Sally, Kate, Kayti & Evie x

Surplus seasonal bedding plants and festive plants are sold at the nursery shop throughout the year (please note the shop is currently closed due to the national lockdown in force across England but plants can currently be pre-ordered and delivered or collected).

When open again next month you will be able to browse the floral rows yourself or pre-order if you prefer. It’s a real treasure trove for high quality plants and gardening accessories such as planters, containers and compost.

Mental health is big news today. The government is making children’s mental health a priority with a new compulsory health curriculum in September 2021 that will teach children how to look after their mental wellbeing and recognise when friends are struggling.

But surely children are too young to have poor mental health, aren’t they? Unfortunately not. Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for children’s mental health, estimate that approximately three children in every classroom suffer with a mental health disorder.

At Coppice Valley, our journey into children’s mental health came about several years ago with a lunchtime Calm Club. Around the same time, staffs’ own interests in mindfulness and meditation led to school-wide teaching of mindful doodling, guided meditation and Qi-Gong. From these small steps into the world of mental health, we began to notice the immediate benefits on children’s emotional well-being. Seeing the difference we were making, we began to evolve a whole school mental health strategy.

Healthy attitudes towards talking about mental health is the first step for all of us who are serious about good mental health so why not start by asking your child, “How are you feeling today?” To read the full blog, click here.
