This is the latest of our weekly newsletters for staff about the work underway to ensure the continuity of Teaching, Learning and Assessment for our students during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Today we are covering:

Signposting Student Support and Provision over Easter

As we near the end of Term 2, we encourage you to share the Easter Webpages with students in your department. The Easter webpages host all of the information and signposting to events, opening times and support over the vacation period. We would encourage Personal Tutors and other key staff to also add the pages to out-of-office messages to flag this information to any students who are in touch over the University closed period.

Personal Tutor Guidance and Training

A few months ago, we shared guidance on sharing information on disclosed disabilities within departments, along with information to support tutors to talk about disclosed disabilities with their personal tutees. This week, we remind departments of the guidance and also share the details of a complementary, upcoming session, open to all personal tutors, on facilitating conversations around disability:

The upcoming session Facilitating Conversations around Disability will take place on 24 March at 11am. This session, led by Wellbeing Services and the Dean of Students Office, will provide an opportunity to discuss disability related issues, talk about the additional challenges disabled students have been facing and explore how personal tutors can both support tutees and signpost to the services available at the University.

Peer Support Resources

The current academic year has not been a ‘typical’ Warwick experience for many of our students. Departments have worked very hard to support students despite these difficult circumstances. One of the real success stories to emerge from the current situation has been the ways in which a range of peer support schemes have developed or adapted during the academic year to provide means for students to support one another. Peer support takes many different forms at Warwick, including departmental initiatives, student society schemes and study buddy partnerships. The Student Peer Support pages provide information on some of the existing schemes at Warwick and provide advice and resources for setting up your own departmental scheme.

Outstanding Student Contribution Award 2021

Warwick's students are amongst the most active in the country, with thousands taking part in and running student societies, volunteering through Warwick volunteers, taking an active role in their learning through the SSLC system and much, much more. Some of our students, however, are truly exceptional. Not only do they excel academically, but they manage to find the time to campaign for good causes, raise enormous amounts of money for charities, start a small business, and work with local charities. The University’s Outstanding Student Contribution Award (OSCA) aims to recognise these achievements. Nominations are open now, until Sunday 23 May!
