Dear friends / Queridos Amigos

(mais informação em Portuguese em baixo)

Spring is around the corner!!!
and so is our (temporary) salvation..?
Many of us are still in lockdown
with hopes of approaching freedom!
Hope you are healthy inside out in these demanding times.
I find myself in a part of the world where I was already vaccinated twice!
It was not what I wanted
but I guess we need to think about the world as a whole and less about ourselves as individuals.
There Must be something to learn in these crazy days!

Hope you can send some warm wishes of recovery to my father...
The documentary film about his Art and Life is coming our in cinemas in Israel nowadays (every Thursday in LEV cinema) and will tour the world shortly, on the list to come are Canada and Spain...
more bellow...

Butoh Workshop

Saturday 13th March 3-5pm UK time on ZOOM
Part of Brighton Natural Health Centre

Treat yourself for Mother's Day  Treat yourself for Lockdown days?

Come to move inside-out, dance from within you while strengthening your body and mind. This Workshop is in memory of Tatsumi Hijikata, a nearly shaman, who brought to the world of performance his inspiring ideas of dancing through images and incorporating the Nature around us. No previous Dance experience required only Life experience!

"Again and again we are reborn. It is not enough simply to be born of the mother's womb. Many births are necessary. Be reborn always and everywhere. Again and again." T. Hijikata

Oficina de Butoh em Lisboa

Sábado 10 e Domingo 12 Abril
11h-17h no palacio Pancas Palhas

'Constantemente renascemos. Não será suficiente simplesmente sair do útero materno. Precisamos de muitos nascimentos. Renascer sempre e em todos os lugares constantemente. T.Hijikata (fundador do Butoh)

O objetivo é libertar o corpo “domesticado” do conjunto de gestos e movimentos preconcebidos permitindo o acesso à profunda e autêntica essência do movimento. Questionando a importância do Butoh hoje e como incorpora-lo em um corpo ocidental.

Senão as vagas serão limitadas.

Valor: 60€ até dia 3 de Abril / 65€ depois.

A new Documentary film about

Dani Karavan

It is not always easy to be born to a famous artists. For years I had to prove to myself that my art is thanks to myself and not because I am the daughter of! But with time I definitely understood that it was thanks to this great man that I have had such an inspiring life so far!

My father is an incredible artist and a fighter for peace and human rights around the world. His work is political and uncompromising always in relation to nature and the human scale, fighting for justice.
I have learnt so much thanks to him and most importantly he taught me that beyond art what's most important is to be a good, honest, generous human being!
When I was a child he would encourage me to play on his environmental sculptures and later I created performances on his breathtaking works in Japan, Germany and Spain.
The latest movie about him is now in cinemas in Tel Aviv and is soon traveling the world to Canada - Link HERE , Spain and beyond.
Will keep you updated but in the meantime have a look at his work if you have a moment to spare Dani Karavan
Directed by Barak Heymann.

Empathic Action / Art for the planet

We have finally launched our new website
in collaboration with Vincent Ordonenz

PRESS HERE TO SEE IT WITH YOUR OWN EYES!

Dear friends of the world, in the face of the current state of our world we feel the need to break the silence and take action for our planet. Waiting for authorities to take act upon these urgent matters is a waste of time and we need to unite in the face of this crises in order to imagine a better future. Protecting our environment and ourselves is of most importance and must be done now before it’s too late. As part of this wondrous nature we must have more empathy and collaborate. We invite you to join our Empathic Action towards our one and only Home- Planet Earth, by adding in your Art and Heart. Please email us to if you'd like to be part of our project and add your work to it.

I have already announced the relaunch of the Total Theatre Magazine website
And I would like to deeply recommend it to you all! especially people with interest in the performing arts. When I moved to the UK in 1996 I studied at Ecole Phillipe Gaulier and used to wait with anticipation every 3 months for the Magazine to come out in a book shop around the corner from the school in Camden. Last Autumn I participated in the Total Theatre Artists as Writers 2020 programme, It was such a rewarding experience and I am so proud to share my 1st published article here entitled - Can Art Save our Planet?

Please like and share and all that sort of stuff, to help us spread the word @TotalTheatreMag
