Bringing you updates and news from the schistosomiasis community

Updates from the GSA network

Dear <<First Name>>

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the measures put in place to curtail it and protect communities, has had wide ranging implications for public health interventions and research. GSA partners shared insights on how the pandemic is impacting their work, what their most pressing concerns are, and their top priorities in this new and fast-changing setting.

The GSA working groups are re-positioning priority actions in light of the pandemic. Excitingly our Research working group has established a workstream (or task team) on snail molecular and genomic research, chaired by Nic Wheeler from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to collaboratively address common challenges and barriers.

The GSA Research WG supported 4 proposals for the COR NTD 2020 meeting and is developing plans for a GSA meeting provisionally planned for the 15th of November, post COR NTD/pre ASTMH.

The GSA has partnered with ISNTD to bring you the ISNTD Connect GSA Series, a monthly schistosomiasis focused webinar series.Starting with Derick Osakunor on "Schistosomiasis treatment gaps hinder elimination efforts: a current perspective",  followed by a special conversation between Prof Dan Colley and Dr Goylette Chami on "Where can a 50-year career in schistosomiasis take you geographically and scientifically?".
